A Brass Striking and Repeating Alarm Carriage Clock with Seconds Dial, signed Raingo Fres A Paris, circa 1870, carrying handle and repeat button, back door signed within an engraved floral cartouche, enamel dial with Roman numerals and signed, seconds and alarm dials, twin barrel movement with a platform lever escapement and striking on a bell, movement backplate numbered 3786, 17cm high over handle 11.08.21 Brass surfaces are discoloured throughout, case is dirty, right hand side bevel glass with a large chip to the lower edge, glasses with scratches, dial with small chip to the top corners, minute hand is broken and needs replacing, back door with winding hole shutter panel missing, movement is working, movement needs a service.

Light wear to the case but essentially good. There is a very faint blind chip to the lower left corner of the front glass panel. The carrying case may not be original to the clock and this is heavily worn and flaked throughout.

The clock does come with a key but we cannot guarantee that this is original to it. The gilt surface is rubbed to the top at the back of the clock. General light age wear patina here and there throughout. The moulded detail above the dial on the front of the case is also rubbed to a lighter white metal colour.

Pardo for the Royal Mail Steam Packet Co June 30th 1904', the door numbered 633 and with maker's oval mark 'R & Co Made in Paris', sold with leather travelling case and winding key, height including handle 16.25cm.Additional InformationThe enamel is in good condition throughout, with just some minor surface scratches and pinhead sized losses. Dial also in good order. The balance wheel does not currently move, so attention required to the movement. Some scuffs to the case.
