Drocourt, Paris, a petite-sonnerie corniche cased carriage clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a gong and the quarters on two-gongs and having a replaced platform lever escapement with alarm, the backplate stamped with the Drocourt trademark of, the initials DC either side of a clock and serial number 20394, the inside of the plates stamped with a further Drocourt trademark and blanc roulant number 6077, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, Arabic outer numerals, blued steel hands (hour hand replaced) and a subsidiary alarm dial, with an engraved gilt-brass mask, the brass corniche case having a five-bail handle and stamped to the underside with a repeat of the serial number, along with a lever for 'strike/silent', height 17cm handle up, 13.5cm handle down. * Biography Pierre Drocourt, born 1819, founded the Drocourt clock making business in Paris in 1853 with his son Alfred, born 1847, taking over in 1872. The blanc roulants to the clocks were made at their workshops in Saint-Nicolas-d'Aliermont, a town outside of Dieppe, before being finished at the workshops in Paris at Rue Debelleyme 28, previously rue Limoges.
