A fine 19th century French Japanese-style (Japonaise) lacquered brass repeating carriage clock by A. Dumas. With faux bamboo column supports and three komei type bronze overlay panels, the sides depict figures at various pursuits and the dial mask is ornamented with a swan. With silvered dial under a copper slip and having black enamel Roman numeral markers. Housing an 8 day movement with platform escapement striking half hourly on a gong and with repeating mechanism. Makers stamp A. D. underneath the case, 19.5cm high including the handle extended, 10.75cm wide, 10cm deep. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Running. Sold with the original key its number matching that on the backplate. Slight lacquer wear only.
A circa 1900 brass cased carriage clock, the movement by Drocourt, bearing stamp verso, inscribed to backplate "11336 Repousée par Leroy & Fils, Palais Royale ...", the dial with Arabic and Roman numerals, inscribed "Leroy & Fils, 13 & 15 Palais Royale, Paris, 211 Regent Street, London", raised on a bracket foot base, housed in a leather covered carrying case, complete with sales invoice dated "21 4 83" for Imperial Antiques Chislehurst, 10 cm high excluding handle CONDITION REPORTS Case fairly shabby with leather scratched in many areas, loop missing bottom right hand side, button working top right. Contains copy of 1983 invoice and key, together with another key (not original). Appears to be working though this is not guaranteed
A modern silver cased carriage clock, the scrollwork swing handle with crown motif, the four glass case with carytid figures to each corner, raised on bracket feet, the movement with white enamelled dial and Roman numerals inscribed "Chas. Frodsham London", No'd to base "0702" (by TC, London, 1978), 11 cm high including handle CONDITION REPORTS No key. Some small dents to the casing. Various small scratches. Large build-up of polish in the crevices. Rocks ever so slightly on a flat surface. We are not clock specialists and cannot tell you if it is working or not - see images for further details. A Silver Cased French Carriage Clock, movement stamped S F, Chester hallmark, dated 1906, cream enamel face with Roman dial, approx 14 x 7.5 x 5 cms, the clock case inscribed 'To Livingstone Walker Esq as a token of gratitude from Mrs E Brotherton, 1910. Provenance: Livingstone Walker (1879-1940), English cricketer. His first-class career lasted from 1900-1904. He captained Surrey in 1903.
