An Art Deco Emerald and Diamond Bar Brooch, a step cut emerald to a tapering bar set throughout with old cut diamonds in milgrain settings, total estimated diamond weight 3.60 carat approximately, measures 1.5cm by 8cm see illustration The brooch is in good condition. There are gaps between the two largest inner diamonds and the settings, but they appear secure. It is not hallmarked or stamped. It fastens with a pin and trombone clasp. The emerald measures 6.50mm x 6.00mm x 3.40mm approximately. The approximate qualities of the diamonds are; colour F/G/H, clarity VS1/VS2. Gross weight 12.0 grams. Based on a Rolls Royce 20/25 chassis and running gear, it is powered by a 4-litre Rolls Royce FB 60 engine with automatic gearbox. Following the film it was kept in long term dry storage in a private collection until it was purchased by the vendor who commenced an extensive two year restoration which included: body stripped, chassis and axles cleaned, prepared and refinished; aluminium body prepared and refinished in original colour; internal upholstery, door card, internal trim and carpets renewed; rear brakes renewed with machined and resurfaced brake drums, servo assisted braking system; new wheel bearings to rear axle; bespoke stainless steel exhaust with large bore sport silencer; new radiator with integral automatic box cooling capability; new aluminium petrol tank with original H. *Great War. A Great War group of three to Private T. Spinks, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment, 1914-15 Star (1387 Pte T. Spinks. Notts: & Derby: R.), British War and Victory Medals (1367 Pte. T. Spinks. Notts. & Derby.R.), extremely fine with Bronze Memorial Plaque (Thomas Spinks) in card envelope, together with two related badges plus a rolled gold pendant encompassing a photograph of the recipient in traditional Scottish dress, plus six sweetheart postcards 265054 Lance Corporal Thomas Edgar Spinks (1897-1917), was born in St Ann's Well Road, Nottingham and served during the Great War with 1st/7th Bn., Sherwood Foresters killed in action 24 April 1917, a newspaper cutting included in the lot records 'Spinks killed by shell on 24th April - Lance Corporal Thomas Edgar Spinks Sherwood Foresters , beloved son of Sarah and the late Frank Spinks, step-son of Mr. William Allen of No.272 St. Ann's Well Road (Nottingham). He bravely answered Duty's Call - sadly missed by his sorrowing Mother, Father, Sisters and Brother Lawrence who was wounded and in Netley Hospital at the time, and his fianc‚e Gladys. Spinks is commemorated in the Canadian Cemetery No.2., Neuville-St. Vaast, France. (small box)
