Colin Moss A.R.C.A. (1914-2005) The Artist At 80 1994 And Art Tour In Ipswich, Suffolk Plus, a Colin Moss-inspired walking art tour during 2021 around Ipswich with curator Emma Roodhouse, date to be agreed. Charcoal on paper Framed 76 x 56 x 3 cm Join other collectors of Colin Moss’s work by bidding for this striking, original charcoal drawing. Moss’s works are held in the collections of the British Museum, The Tate Gallery Archive, The Imperial War Museum, The Government Art Collection, Ipswich Borough Council Museums & Galleries, Leamington Spa Museum & Art Gallery, Nottingham Art Gallery, and the Cheltenham & Gloucester Building Society. This is a once in a lifetime to bid for a piece of art, generously donated by the widow of the artist, in aid of the young people in situations of challenge, in Colin’s home town. Colin Moss drew and painted scenes of ordinary life - men in the pub, women eating sandwiches in the park or bending to pick up milk from doorsteps. These images form an important part of Moss' artistic legacy to Ipswich. He was also an acclaimed art teacher, leaving a profound impression on students including, Brian Eno and Maggi Hambling. ‘His teaching, like his painting, was tough, honest and passionate.’ Maggi Hambling, The Guardian, 2005. Painter, draughtsman, camoufleur, printmaker and teacher, Colin Moss was born in Ipswich in 1914. He studied at the Plymouth Art School, 1930-1934 and won a scholarship to the Royal College of Art, studying under Gilbert Spencer, Charles Mahoney and Percy Horton, 1934-1938. Among his contemporaries was Mervyn Levy, who became a life-long friend. In the same year, he completed mural paintings for the British pavilion at the New York World Fair. During the war, he was a camouflage designer to the Ministry of Home Security. After he was demobbed, he was appointed Senior Lecturer at the Ipswich School of Art and held that position until his retirement in 1979. ‘The legacy of Colin Moss casts a huge shadow across East Anglia's art landscape.’ Andrew Clarke, Art Critic (2010) Framing kindly donated by Hung, Drawn & Quartered (www.hdqframing.co.uk) The Art Crawl Art curator Emma Roodhouse (accompanied by Colin’s step-daughter Trudy) will lead a 2-hour, Colin Moss-inspired tour around various Ipswich sites and hostelries, explaining the links each venue has to Colin's life and works. The tour will be for the purchaser of the drawing plus up to 5 additional people. T&C’s Apply Suggested Reserve Bid £400 The artwork will be dispatched to any UK or overseas address, at the buyer’s expense, after the auction closes. The Art Crawl can be arranged directly with Trudy Sore, Colin’s step daughter at a mutually agreed time. Contact details for the Art Crawl, to be supplied on completion of the auction. Whilst we hope this experience will be possible as fully described, the above is subject to any and all COVID-19 restrictions that may be in place in 2021 Donated by: The Estate of Colin Moss www.colinmoss.info.
Limited Edition Kylie Minogue Bamford Quartz Watch with Personalised Signed Box and Lithograph Print This limited-edition timepiece (in collaboration with Bamford London) features Kylie’s iconic pose from her Step Back in Time album artwork. Included with the watch is a limited-edition lithograph print of the album artwork, which Kylie will sign and personalise for the winning bidder along with the watch’s box. This timepiece brings the album artwork alive on the dial of the Mayfair Sport. Using Kylie Minogue’s signature pose and the letters of her name, playfully replacing the more traditional hour markers, Kylie is quite literally popping off the dial. With the addition of a light-reactive luminous watch face, both her name and iconic pose can be seen in the dark. A black and white colour-way combination on the strap, case and bezel complements Kylie pose and highlights the colours elsewhere on the dial. Donated by: Kylie Minogue www.kylie.com
