* Nelson (Horatio, Viscount Nelson, 1758-1805). Original engraved bookplate of Nelson, c.1797/98, depicting the stern of the San Josef above an armorial shield and the motto 'Faith and Works', plate dimensions 98 x 65 mm with good margins. Can be dated to after the Battle of Cape St Vincent of February 1797, in which Nelson took the San Josef as a prize, and the Battle of the Nile of August 1798 after which Nelson received his own coat-of-arms. Menu. Diner in Honour of the Australian Cricketers given at the Mount Nelson Hotel, Cape Town, 12th November, 1902, a single folded card menu, split in two at fold, front cover with classical frame border printed in blue, cream, and terracotta, paper and glue remains to rear cover (with Toast List still legible), approx. 150 x 100 mm. The Australian team toured South Africa in the autumn of 1902 and played three tests and a friendly. This dinner was held the day after the final test, in which Australia beat South Africa by ten wickets and won the series. (1)
