Western Province v British Lions Rugby programme 1962 – played at Newlands, Cape Town on 14th July 1962. The British Lions won 21-13. Two different programmes from this match. The smaller version has a stain at the bottom of the front cover. The larger version has the usual fold but otherwise in good condition. (2)
IMPORTANTE SCULPTURE d`une Sainte en bois sculpté polychrome. Cette belle sculpture est représentée debout tenant de sa main droite le pan de sa robe et le livre Saint de la main gauche. Elle est vêtue d`une robe à taille haute et à plis verticaux. Au-dessus une grande cape est posée sur ses épaules et tombe jusqu`au sol. Elle ne porte pas de voile sur la tête et ses cheveux ondulés se partagent de chaque côté du visage en tombant sur l`arrière. Au sommet du crâne elle est coiffée d`un chignon rond. Ses vêtements sont animés de nombreux plis gothiques à bec et à enroulements. Cette belle sculpture qui allie élégance, grâce et douceur est très certainement d`origine Champenoise, vers 1500. HAUT. 79 cm
SAINT MICHEL en bois sculpté polychrome et doré. Il est représenté debout le pied droit reposant sur un rocher légèrement en arrière, les deux bras écartés, l`un vers le bas, l`autre vers le haut et regardant sur sa gauche vers le bas. Il est habillé à la romaine avec un décolleté en forme de rectangle, la tête coiffée d`un casque à deux plumes avec une cape sur l`épaule gauche qui tourne autour du corps. L`armure et le casque sont dorés et gravés de motifs floraux. Il repose sur un rocher posé sur un socle constitué d`une imitation de pierres accumulées. Espagne fin du XVIe siècle. (Manque la majorité des doigts des mains). HAUT. 120 cm
PERSONNAGE en noyer sculpté polychrome et doré. Il est debout tenant de sa main gauche sa cape, au-dessous de sa taille, avec le livre Saint sous le bras gauche. Légère position de contrapposto, ses cheveux et sa barbe sont ondulés, ses vêtements ont des parements dorés à l`aiguille formant des rinceaux. (Il lui manque la main droite qui tenait un bâton disparu, dont on voit l`extrémité à ses pieds. L`arrière n`est pas travaillé). HAUT. 61 cm

A World War I Gallantry medal group awarded to Joseph Barker Jackson, comprising a WW1 Military medal for Bravery In The Field, inscription on edge reads `96230 Sergeant JB Jackson 18/Squadron Machine Gun Corp` Sergeant Jackson`s award was notified in the London Gazette on 10th April 1918, page 4388, a Queens South Africa medal, inscription on edge reads `2027 Trooper JB Jackson 106 company of The Imperial Yeomanry` with bars for South Africa 1902, South Africa 1901, Transvaal, Orange Free State and Cape Colony, a 1914/15 Star, inscription on back reads `2414 Sergeant JB Jackson Staffordshire Yeomanry`, British War medal, War For Civilisation medal with dispatchers clasp and a George V Territorial Efficiency medal, all enclosed in a Spink & Son mahogany framed case, also with this lot is a facsimile photograph of Sergeant Jackson in old age, copies of his war record and the supplement to the London Gazette (illustrated).

E.B. Kain. Rifle BD`, and a King`s South Africa Medal with two bars, comprising `South Africa 1901` and `South Africa 1902`, with impressed naming to `214 Pte E.B. Kain. Rifle Brigade.` (the suspension repaired on the KSA, otherwise mounted as worn).
Cased wood carved ships model of the "Flying CloudCased wood carved ships model of the "Flying Cloud", New York, executed circa 1900, the well detailed scale model, complete with appropriate rigging, decking, masts, and lifeboats, rising on an oval plinth and housed in a glazed oak case, overall 30"h x 41"w x 16"d, The clipper ship"Flying Cloud" was built in 1851 by Donald McKay for the California trek which was thriving as a result of the discovery of gold in 1848. Under the command of the celebrated Captain Josiah Cressy, in 1854 Flying Cloud ran from New York to San Francisco around Cape Horn in a record 89 days and 8 hours.
