A cream, silk and wool dress, circa 1890, with self woven paisley design, the fitted high necked bodice side fastening and with pleated detail and with a wide cape like lace collar, the skirt plain and flared, very good condition and fabric strong, lining discoloured but this does not affect the face fabric, one or two tiny marks
A black velour princess line double breasted coat with cape oversleeves embroidered with cord, circa 1939-40, some moth holes to rear of left cape sleeve, wear to one button, together with a grey ottoman `silk` suit, the jacket fitted, front braid and paste button fastening, straight skirt, worn as a going away outfit in May 1952, in excellent condition
A mid 19th century album of one hundred and ninety autographs and letters probably compiled by Lady Rowe, wife of Sir Joshua Rowe, Chief Justice of Jamaica, there are some letters to Jamaica and Cape town with many from various bishops and lords such as Warwick, Spencer, Cumberland and Derby. There are two signatures of Queen Victoria and one of King William IV on the first page and later a signed letter from Charles Dickens dated July 21st 1837 concerning the tenancy of a chambers above an inn, with another Dickens signature. Street, was a member of the ship`s company of HMS Duke of York, and was onboard the Ship on the occasion of the Japanese surrender at Tokyo, in August 1945` and other related papers. H.M.S. Duke of York, as Admiral Fraser`s Flagship, took part in the sinking of the Scharnhorst, off North Cape, on December 26th, 1943 `The Daily Yorker`, The Journal of H.M.S. Duke of York, 2nd September 1945.

Bell.Engravings of the Bones... 1804 second edition half-title 28 engraved plates only (of 32 lacking plates 3 8 9 & 11 of muscles) contemporary ink signatures of “Washington Price Surgeon HM Bourbon Rifle Regiment” and “L. Liesching” on title foxed first two plates torn/slightly defective at fore-edge contemporary half calf worn upper cover detached but crudely repaired [Wellcome II p.137] 4to 1804. ***John Washington Price was the surgeon of the transport ship Minerva which sailed from Cork for Sydney in 1799 carrying two hundred convicts many of them being United Irishmen transported for their role in the 1798 rebellion. His journal of the voyage illustrated with his own watercolours is in the British Libary and was published in 2000. He later served as a surgeon in the British army in India. Louis Liesching was a notable doctor in Cape Town in the first half of the nineteenth century. .
