Named to 3740 Pte T Donohoe Rl Dubin Fus, with faint 'Ghost' dated reverse (Wreath pointing to R). A Kings South Africa Medal with bars South Africa 1901 and S Africa 1902, named to 3740 Pte T Donohoe Rl:Dublin Fus. The medal roll confirms the Medal and Bars awarded to the recipient, whilst serving with the 5th Battalion. KSA Roll not found at this time.

A Kings South Africa medal with bars South Africa 1901 & 1902, named to 5387 Cpl W J Jones Wilts R. A 1914/15 Star, British War & VIctory medals named to 5387 Pte W J Jones Wilts Regt. Cpl William J Jones served in the 2nd Battalion the Wiltshire Regt, returning to the UK in March 1901 with his clasps confirmed on the roll. His KSA and clasps are also confirmed on the roll. In the Gt war William J Jones served in France from 4/4/1915.
A 5th LANCERS QSA. A five bar Queens South Africa Medal, with bars Elandslaagte- Defence of Ladysmith- Orange Free State- Transvaal and at the top Cape Colony. Named to 4410 Pte J Hickey 5/Lncrs. The reverse has the wreath pointing to the letter R. Medal Rolls confirm the bars to Shoeing Smith J Hickey 5th Lancers, also entitled to a KSA .
A R GARRISON ARTILLERY Q S A MEDAL A three bar Cape Colony-Paardeberg and Driefontein Queens South Afica Medal, named in impressed style to 32143 Gnr W Nolan RGA. Gunner Nolan also served in China in 1900, with the 91st coy (Late 15th Comp S D) RGA. Entitled to a QSA with Driefontein and Paardeberg confirmed, notation states; 'Forfited conviction of theft' 25/8/02. Later note states 'Issued and Restored'. 1902. 15th S T Coy Southern Division RGA.
A JAPANESE SATSUMA VASE BY KINKOZAN MEIJI 1868-1912 The tall body finely painted with a continuous design of Mandarin ducks on a stream, the upper half densely decorated with flowering wisteria and with small birds perched amongst the blooms, signed Kinkozan zo in gilt to the base, 30cm. Provenance: purchased at auction in Cape Town in the 1990s.

‘Martha’ a poured wax shoulder head doll by Pierotti, English circa 1860, the exceptionally well moulded face with inserted blue glass eyes, moulded lids and fine brows, having painted slightly smiling mouth and nostrils, moulded ears and inserted blonde hair in plait, wax shoulder-plate to cloth body with wax lower arms and legs, wearing a long white cotton gown with lace panel to front, petticoat, bloomers and knitted slippers, cream faux fur cape with pink silk lining and bonnet, (condition excellent), 20” (51cm) tall.

Africa.- Lichtenstein (Henry) Travels in Southern Africa, in the Years 1803, 1804, 1805, and 1806, 2 vol., first edition in English, stipple-engraved portrait frontispiece, folding engraved map, 8 engraved plates, one folding, with 4pp. 'Explanation of the Map' and 2pp. advertisements at end of preliminaries of vol.2, foxing (sometimes severe, particularly in vol.1), some offsetting from plates, map torn (partly repaired), contemporary half calf, rubbed, rebacked, new endpapers, 4to, 1812-1815. ⁂ Lichtenstein was employed as tutor to the son of the new Governor of the Cape Colony, General Janssens. The work includes an account of Janssens' travels to Kaffaria, journeys to the western and northern parts of the colony, and much information on natural history, a narrative of the capture of the colony by the British, and vocabularies of native languages.
