FLEMING, Ian - Diamonds Are Forever : cloth in d/w, 8vo, Jonathan Cape, first ed, 1956. * Dust wrapper with the price 12s 6d, and reviews for Moonraker and Live and Let Die. It is edge worn, a little rubbed and soiled with very slight loss. Original black cloth which is bright as is the silver lettering on the spine and diamond central device on the upper cover, text block is square.

Early 24th-22nd century BC. A carved agate Old Akkadian cylinder seal with presentation scene, a bearded god wears a flounced robe, has his hair at the back of the head in an artfully laid bun, and seats on a throne with side grid pattern; raising his right hand he faces left a standard in the form of a high pole, standing on a small pedestal and ending up in a hemisphere, at its bottom a feather or a narrow piece of textile is attached obliquely, he is approached by three bearded gods with long pleated skirts; the first, with naked upper body, holds a lotus flower in front of his stomach in his clasped hands; the second with a flounced cape over his right shoulder raises his left hand; ibex behind throne with cuneiform text above; accompanied by a museum quality seal impression. 30.7 grams, 40mm (1 1/2"). Property of a Bristol collector; formerly part of his father's collection formed between 1960-late 1970s. Very fine condition.
An early 20th century Continental porcelain dish with pierced border. Painted to the centre with the portrait of a lady wearing a feathered hat and cape. Cross and dot mark after Meissen Marcolini period, 30cm wide. Condition report intended as a guide only.Section of repair to the pierced border.

(15 1/4 x 19 3/4 in), sheet 455 x 565 mm. (17 7/8 x 22 1/4 in), Dutch text verso, central vertical fold as issued with marginal repair to upper section, some browning and spotting, marginal repaired tear to centre right, unframed, [c. 1640].

He was employed as a Stonemason and served in the 3rd Volunteer battalion of the Seaforth Highlanders. He signed up for active service on 17th January 1900 at Elgin. He was discharged in 1902. Kings South Africa Medal 4484 Serjt J Thompson Durham L I EVII LSGC 4484 C SJT J Thompson Durham L I Condition VF ( Contacting on pair). James Thompson was born in County Down in 1872. He served in the Boer War with the Durham Light Infantry and was awarded the QSA & KSA. He was discharged in 1913 after twenty-one years' service and was in possession of the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. He re-joined the Durham Light Infantry on 26th September 914 and served at home until 30th May 1919.

He attested aged nineteen joining the 2nd battalion. Simpson saw service in the Boer War and was awarded the QSA & KSA. He was transferred to the Army Reserve on 4th June 1907 and discharged 4th June 1911. He re-joined during the Great War and was sadly killed in action on 25th September 1915 on the first day of the Battle of Loos. His body was not recovered, and he is remembered on the Loos Memorial.
