The cape is the oldest piece in this set and was reportedly once worn by Crown Prince Muzzafer ad-Din himself. The robe is made of a fine blue silk and lined with embroidered ribbon bearing the Shir-o Khorshid emblem, details one would expect from royal attire. The set of red velvet jacket and waistcoat were probably worn by his children a few decades later, as one of them still includes an original button reading “Muzzafer ad-Din Sultan”, issued during the reign of Muzzafer ad-Din Shah Qajar. The three items are stored together in an early twentieth century velvet box surmounted by a royal badge, reinforcing the royal provenance of these pieces.
