A matched silver suite of cream jugs and sugar basins, comprising: a George IV twin handled basin by John Bridge, London 1823; three William IV basins and a jug by Edward, Edward junior, John & William Barnard, London 1833; and another jug, maker’s mark rubbed, London 1833, each lobed circular and chased with flowers and scroll foliage, the interiors gilt, each engraved with two crests under a coronet, the basins also with an armorial, the basins 17.5cm (7in) wide, 8cm (3in) high, 2171g (69.8 oz) (marks rubbed) (6). The shield of MANN quartering CORNWALLIS ensigned by an Earl’s coronet and supporters for James Cornwallis, later Mann [1778-1852] 5th and last Earl Cornwallis. Provenance: Cornwallis

19th Century Poutney`s blue and white transfer printed three piece toilet set decorated with the Bristol pattern from the Bristol Views Series and comprising: jug 21.75cm high, basin 31.5cm diameter and chamber pot 21.5cm diameter. This view shows the harbour, Redcliffe Church and the ship David which was used for bringing the Welsh coal and the Cornish and Dorsetshire clay to the pottery. It was also used for delivering pottery goods to Wales and the South of England.

Ltd, Sheffield 1901, engraved with a crest and a motto `Nobilis Est Ira Leonis`, 16cm (6.25in) long; a late Victorian tapered cheroot holder case, Birmingham 1898; various small flatware; and an American silver coloured butter knife, 11.75 oz gross The crest and motto belongs to the name of Stuart, a kinsman of the Marquesses of Bute. The first husband of Mrs Knatchbull Hugesson of Ropley House was Lord James Charles Crichton-Stuart, son of Sir John Crichton-Stuart, 5th Marquess of the County of Bute and Lady Eileen Beatrice Forbes.
