A GEORGE III MAHOGANY WASH STAND the fold over hinged lid opening to reveal a fitted interior with adjustable mirror and lidded compartments, and complete with two glass bottles with monogram EJ, the drawer to the front containing a 19th century blue and white wash basin (broken and restored), and two further lidded compartments each containing a bottle with matching monogram EJ as previous, the whole standing on square tapering legs terminating in brass casters and with possibly 19th century children's graffiti to the front depicting horses, a boy and a girl etc Condition: splits to the top and movement to the stringing especially to the right hand lid, fading in places overall, the previously mentioned graffiti to the front and marks, dents and scratches overall due to age and use, the interior with probably original mirror plate and various compartments, the two small bottles and further bottles in the drawer beneath all looking original and in good condition but with some silvering to the inner surface, the small fitted openings to the centre left with a split and some movement, the drawer beneath in reasonable condition, overall in reasonable to good condition but in need of some repolishing

Michael Coote - British Artist - The Lost World (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) - a The Lost World inspired pastel study / painting of Diplodocus dinosaurs. Signed to the corner. Framed and glazed. Measures 89cm x66cm.The Lost World is a novel released in 1912 by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle concerning an expedition to a plateau in the Amazon basin of South America where prehistoric animals (dinosaurs and other extinct creatures) still survive. It was originally published serially in the popular Strand Magazine and illustrated by New-Zealand-born artist Harry Rountree during the months of April-November 1912. The character of Professor Challenger was introduced in this book. The novel also describes a war between indigenous people and a vicious tribe of ape-like creatures. Michael Coote studied as a photo lithographer, and is often credited as 'colour illustrator' on contemporary Sherlock Holmes publications.

A Chinese inscribed bronze basin, Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), the basin with flared rim and cast with band of rings and a decorative pair of taotie mask handles, the interior impressed with an auspicious line fu gui chang yi hou wang, 34cm diameterA bronze vessel of this shape was used as a washing basin by a noble family during the Han Dynasty. Compared with a similar basin without inscriptions sold at Christies NY, Lot 212, 1-2 April 2009. A very similar Han basin with the same six-character auspicious line is now at the Palace Museum, Taipei (reference no. 中-銅-001511), another closely related example from the Palace Museum, Beijing (reference no. 故00077190).
