An Important Australian Silver Three Piece Tea Service, presented to Captain Valentine Ryan, made by Alexander Dick, New South Wales, Sydney (active 1820s - 1840s), comprising teapot (13.5cm high), two-handled sugar basin and milk, each semi-gadrooned, the teapot inscribed around the lid PRESENTED BY THE CABIN PASSENGERS ON BOARD THE SHIP "CAMDEN" TO CAPTAIN VALENTINE RYAN IN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF HIS UNSWERVING ATTENTION AND KINDNESS DURING THE VOYAGE FROM PORTSMOUTH TO NEW S.WALES 1836, the sugar and milk with shortened inscriptions within cartouches, gross weight 49oz The Barque "Camden", 432 tons and built in London. From Sydney to Surabaja, wrecked on rocks at the Straits of Madura, 8 August 1836.
