- One-off built by renowned model builder and ex-Rolls-Royce engineer Barry Jordan - Based on the iconic American 'Airstream' - Features double bed, table, TV, wash basin, double hob and awning And now for the caravan you always promised yourself but feared you could never afford! It is a one-off build - the meticulous work of former Rolls-Royce engineer and world renowned model maker Barry Jordan of Derby. With more than a passing nod to the classic American Airstream, that was designed in the 1930s and still sells in large volumes today, the relatively diminutive Jordan has similar styling and the equivalent external finish of polished aluminium. It is 12ft long (including tow hitch) and was constructed around an example of the French-built Erdie triple motorcycle trailer, to which he added corner jacks and an Alko caravan hitch. The ultra-strong ribbed framework was constructed along aircraft lines, while the aforementioned outer panelling was created from 1.5mm sheet and held in place by 1,400 meticulously positioned stainless steel screws. The four 'armadillo' corners were formed on a specially designed jig. This wonderful project was completed in just 14 months without any plans or formal drawings. The Airdream sleeps two adults and is equipped with: low voltage DC lighting, mains hook-up, TV, two-burner gas hob, fold-away double bed, wash basin, collapsible awning and a surprising degree of storage space. An unrepeatable opportunity.
