Henry Charles Fox RBA - A large and handsome watercolour of the River Great Ouse at St Ives Cambridgeshire, dated 1903 - Depicts from downstream on the River Great Ouse: the ancient St Ives Town Bridge with Bridge Chapel (pre-1930s structure); the fine former Queen Anne riversidehouse; the wide, natural Riverport basin; fen lighter barges with crews, moored at the former Tommy Doo's boatyard; and other boats tied up in midstream - Inscribed on the mount "St Ives Bridge, Hunts. H.C. Fox R.B.A." Signed at bottom left "H C Fox 1903."Light and dark gold-coloured double mounts, glazed, ornate frame and string-hung - Image size 73.5cm width x 52cm height. Frame 99cm width x 78cm height overall - Henry Charles Fox painted predominantly in watercolour, mainly depicting rural scenes that were very popular with city-dwelling patrons and sold well. He lived in London and Kingston-upon-Thames and travelled extensively across the south east of England looking for the best subjects to paint. Diameter: 48 cm.Probably Austria, 19th century.Gilt feet in the shape of walking turtles on rock crystal base plate, surmounted by raised, diverging dolphin figures, whose protruding tails support the shell-shaped gilt-bronze bowl. This forms an overflow basin, as the central shaft, decorated with putti, is flanked and covered by glass fountains with hanging prisms, which gives the overall appearance of an original table fountain.
A Worcester Japan Fan pattern tea set, circa 1770, comprising teapot and cover, oviform tea canister, sugar basin and cover and six teacups and saucers, imitation Oriental script marks to base Sugar bowl: chipping to flower finial. Chip to flange. Caddy lacking cover but in good condition. Teapot: cover finial restored, firing crack beneath. 2 tiny chips to spout and a tiny crack. The saucers without damage but worn to gilding in centres. One teacup with a small shallow rim chip, another with two small stained rim chips.
A Rockingham style gilt and floral Victorian part tea set, with 12 tea cups, 10 wide cups, 12 saucers, two large plates, lidded sugar basin, bowl and milk jug (see illustration).Half of the saucers have small chips or discolouration, the rest are in good order but do show some signs of discolouration and do not ring true. The milk jug is slightly yellowed to the interior and does not ring. The handle to the sugar basin has been broken and glued back into place, the lid is slightly yellowed, the main body is in good order but does have a small chip to the internal rim. The bowl is free from any cracks however there is some yellowing to one side. The wider cups – four have chips and cracks, the others are in good order but do show some signs of slight discolouration. Six of the teacups are in good order, free from any chips or cracks but do show some slight discolouration, the other six have chips, cracks etc. One of the plates rings true and is generally a good colour, the other is dull and shows signs of discolouration.
A Royal Worcester blush ivory heart shaped Tea For Two service, decorated with floral sprays and gilt edges, consisting of a heart shaped tray, teapot, cream and sugar and teacups and saucer, together with another saucer, teapot marked to underside Registered Design No. 233855.This service has clearly seen a fair bit of use. The heart shaped tray is generally discoloured, it does not ring true, in fact it is very wooden. There are two small hairline cracks at the upper end of the heart and two rim chips. The underside of the tray is badly scuffed and discoloured and has numerous scratches. The sugar basin has been broken into three pieces and glued and there is also a hairline crack. It is also somewhat discoloured. Whilst both teacups ring true, they do both have small top edge chips. The heart shaped saucer rings true and the other one also but not quite as crisply. Both saucers are a little dirty. The teapot lid does not ring true but does not appear to have any repairs. There is however a small under edge lip chip and a slight hairline crack. The teapot itself is a little discoloured and does not quite ring true. The gilding to the teapot is generally a little rubbed but we cannot see any cracks or restoration. All pieces are a little crazed when viewed under magnification.
A three piece silver tea service, with teapot, cream jug and sugar, circa 1920 by Ernest Druiff & Co, the teapot with wicker wrapped handle and candle with tri pointed decoration to the top. Height including handle +/- 9 cm. Birmingham date letter V. Overall weight 472 grams (see illustration).All the pieces are generally in very good order. The teapot lid fits perfectly well and it sits on a flat surface nicely. There is one split to the wicker on the handle but this is not loose. The milk jug is in good order. The sugar basin has a very slight ripple to the top, but this is barely noticeable with the naked eye but can be felt when running a finger around the top. There are signs of age-related wear but nothing untoward to all three pieces.
A Spode tea set with green body and gilt floral decoration, comprising teapot, sugar bowl basin, 10 tea cups, 11 saucers, 12 plates and three dishes.Two of the large plates are in good order, one has a dent and crack running from one edge towards the rim of the base and then further across. The furthest reaches are +/- 15 cm. The milk and sugar bowl are both in very good condition with no issues. The teapot lid has been riveted at some point and later been restored. The spout of the teapot has also been restored. All of the tea cups are in good order with the exception of one which has a chip to the rim. The saucers and side plates are all in good order with signs of any chips, cracks or restoration.
