George Meekyn (1831-1909) - Nottingham Castle from Fothergill's Basin, where the River Leen and the canal met, signed and dated 1880, oil on canvas, 29.5 x 45cm Ready to hang in gallery condition. Signs of former cleaning and minor scrubbing in places. Stable craquelure, not discoloured. The verso of the canvas fitted with a cover, under which appears to be the original lined canvas.

Chinese Blue and White Painted Porcelain Foot Bath Bowl. Marked on base. oval in shape with bombe sides, the vintage porcelain basin is dressed with two side handles; it is decorated with hand painted floral motifs around the perimeter of the pot, the inside features painted fish and flower decor all in a blue and white palette. Size: 11 x 22 x 14 in.- Provenance: this item comes from the private collection of Lou A. and Barbara B. Pritchett. Lou Pritchett was the ex-Vice President of Procter and Gamble. Lou Pritchett rose through the ranks at Procter & Gamble and was instrumental in the creation of the partnership between Procter & Gamble and Wal-Mart. Pritchett was instrumental in bringing Proctor & Gamble to the Phillipines during his time there. Now retired, Lou is a sought-after public speaker and author of Stop Paddling & Start Rocking the Boat.

He was a landscape and portrait painter, working in the Colourist tradition. A member of the Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, he showed work regularly in the annual Royal Scottish Academy exhibitions. He had long been a resident of Gourock on the south bank of the River Clyde and marine activities feature prominently in his work. He was also (and still is) widely regarded to be one of Scotland's leading still life painters.
