The chamber pot having bulbous body with flared rim, and small handle to side, with painted floral design. The jug and basin each having white ground with polychrome floral patterning.

A Chinese Kangxi copper basin with a false bottom decorated with shou symbols, scroll work, and floral designs throughout; scholar's objects around the surface of the rim.Height: 4 in x diameter: 20 in.Condition: There are no visible significant or deep scratches. Designs are slightly faded. There are a few bends and dents throughout the body of the basin; there is slight undulation and unevenness throughout the rim. The upper rim is separating from the body of the basin along a third of the basin's circumference. Some areas of verdigris patination, particularly the rim around where the false bottom meets the basin. There is wear along the underside of the basin consistent with age and use.

With a pair of luted S-curved upraised strap handles. The domed lid with two registers of low-relief molded animals, likely big cats and monkeys, with three bosses. It was through his travels that he was inspired to begin a lifelong relationship with the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia), becoming a major sponsor of the institute and facilitating the growth of their Asian art department, which is now one of the best in the country. His generous donations to Mia allowed them to establish a fund for the Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer, one of the few endowed positions of this type in the museum field. He additionally served as a trustee of the institute, advocating for its operational growth. In its turn, the museum established a gallery named in his honor in recognition for his endowment fund and numerous contributions to their collection. The selections here showcase his talent and breadth of collecting, ranging from ancient statues to 19th-century woodblock prints. His appreciation for art persisted throughout his life and we are honored to offer items from his collection in this auction.Height: 6 1/2 in x width: 10 in x depth: 7 1/2 in.Condition: Small chips and losses to the glaze throughout. Ca. AD 1000 - 1200 An Islamic Seljuk tray hammered from a thin sheet of bronze, formed into a rectangular form with a shallow basin and broad lateral panels. The basin surfaces are decorated with repousse decorations including four panthers in the corners, curvilinear motifs, and a central discoid emblem with three running panthers. The sloped walls of the basin are decorated with intricate foliate and stippled motifs, and lines of Nashki (also Nashk) script flow around rim. Covered with layers of green, brown, and russet patina.
