An HMV portable gramophone "Garrard RC 120 Mk II", and a quantity of LP records to include The Beatles "Help !", label inscribed "Sold in UK subject to resale price conditions, see price lists", bearing No. XEX 503-4N, The Monkees "The Monkees" (circa 1966), "The Animals" LP on orange vinyl with Japanese label "1st Stereo Record" (outer cardboard sleeve missing), etc.
Records - Assorted. Fourteen long playing and 12" single records, including Jimi Hendrix, `Are You Experienced` (Polydor, 2459 390); Groundhogs, `Scratching the Surface` (BGO, LP15); and Red Guitars, `Steeltown / Within 4 Walls` (Self Drive Records, SCAR 010T); also three single records; a John Lennon 4-CD boxed set; and a book, The Beatles Anthology.
BEATLES THE: Individual ink signatures of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr on an 8vo sheet of printed notepaper from the Hylands Hotel, Filey. McCartney and Starr have signed the centre of the notepaper with their names alone. Annotated in red ink in an unidentified hand at the head with the name of the recipient, Ann Firth, and also annotated and dated 12th December 1963 at the base. Some light creasing, otherwise VG Provenance: Obtained in person by the owner of the Hylands Hotel when McCartney and Starr checked out on the morning following the first Beatles concert at the Futurist Theatre, Scarborough, on 11th December 1963. The owner of the hotel presented the vendor, Ann Firth, with the signatures when she and her parents, who were friends of the owner, visited the hotel at Christmas 1963.
HARRISON GEORGE: (1943-2001) English Guitarist, a member of The Beatles. Book signed and inscribed, being a paperback edition of Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda, published by Rider, London, 1993. Signed by Harrison in blue ink to the title page, `To John (the Baptist), best wishes, George Harrison`, adding a crucifix and the Buddhist symbol ohm either side of his signature. Together with a small selection of signed photographs of various sizes and signed programmes by various entertainers including Donald O`Connor, Gordon Jackson, Edwin Starr etc. The photographs and programmes FR to G, the book about VG, 7 The book was presented by Harrison to the late husband of the vendor when he had lunch with Harrison at his home. They were also accompanied by Bernard Dyke, a former President of the George Formby Society, who had recently repaired a ukulele belonging to Harrison, also a member of the Society.
STARR RINGO: (1940- ) English Musician, drummer with The Beatles. Signed and inscribed postcard photograph of Starr in a head and shoulders pose holding a polaroid photograph of himself. Signed (with his full signature) in blue ink across a light area of the image. A couple of letters in the inscription and signature are a touch light. Together with Louis Armstrong (1901-1971) American Jazz Trumpeter. A printed 4to souvenir programme for a concert by Louis Armstrong and his All-Stars, Third British Tour, April-May 1962, signed (`Louis Armstrong`) in green ink with his name alone to a clear area of the centre page alongside his portrait and those of his musicians (ink annotations in the hand of a collector). Minor central vertical fold and some slight age wear, G to VG, 2
STARR RINGO: (1940- ) English Musician, drummer with The Beatles. Signed 14 x 11 photograph of Starr seated in a half length pose, surrounded by John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison, at the height of their Beatles career. Signed (`Ringo`) in bold black ink with his name alone to a clear area at the centre of the image. VG
[BEATLES THE]: Two different colour 8 x 10 reproductions of the artwork for the cover to The Beatles’ album Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, both signed by Peter Blake (artist) and George Martin (producer, who adds an inscription to both) individually to the lower white borders. Together with a circular white card, featuring The Beatles logo, representing a drum head, signed in bold black ink by Pete Best (original drummer) with his name alone to the centre. VG, 3
BOXING: Muhammad Ali signed 19 x 15.5 photograph depicting the boxer standing in an amusing full length pose in a boxing ring with the four members of The Beatles lying at his feet. Signed by Ali with his name alone at the head of the image, the signature weak and only just visible. Professionally matted in black and white and framed and glazed in a silver coloured metal frame to an overall size of 24 x 30; Henry Cooper signed red Britannia boxing glove, signed (`Sir Henry Cooper`) in black ink. Mounted in a box frame alongside 40 small colour reproductions of the covers of programmes to Cooper`s fights. Framed and glazed to an overall size of 26 x 34. G to VG, 2
An early set of Beatles signatures featuring all four members of the group, in biro on the back of a photograph; framed and presented with a post card depicting the Beatles. PROVENANCE: Given in person to the vendor on Wednesday, 26th June, 1963 at the Majestic Ballroom, Newcastle upon Tyne.
