THE BEATLES/THE BEAT BROTHERS - MY BONNIE/WHY (1961 SINGLE SIDED 78RPM GERMAN DEUTSCHE GRAMMOPHON ACETATE RECORDING). A fascinating recording from early in The Beatles history - this one of the rarest Beat Brothers records known to exist. The Beatles and Tony Sheridan entered the Deutsche Grammophon studios, Hamburg on June 22, 1961 to do their first recording as 'Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers'. The studio, a converted stage at Hamburg's 'Friedrich-Halle', was a converted stage and was used as an assembly hall for the local grammar school - it just so happened to have some fantastic acoustics and was therefore used by record companies for their recordings. This would be the first time for The Beatles to record in a studio, the session produced by Bert Kaempfert and then engineered by Karl Hinze. The 12" single sided recording contains 2 tracks; My Bonnie (with the German intro) and Why (which appears to be a slightly different mix to the final commercial release), with a section of tape on the label hand written stating "Beatles, Tony Sheridan, My Bonnie, Why? Mix 2, Polydor And German 6107-C', '78RPM' crossed out (though the recording does indeed play at 78RPM, the commercial release never appearing as a 78RPM release) and four 'X' marks around the edges of the tape. The record is in brilliant Ex condition showing just a couple of very light and faint paper marks, none ever heavier in nature whatsoever with very little wear to the aluminium lacquer. Containing hand-etched information in the run-out including: DEUTSCHE GRAMMOPHON KH 7-1961. Housed with original outer sleeve with further details of the recording.
