BEATLES THE: An excellent vintage signed 6.5 x 8.5 photograph by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr individually, the image showing the Fab Four in a classic full length pose together, each of them holding a cup of tea. Individually signed by the two Beatles in bold blue and black inks, with their names alone, to clear areas of the image. The photograph also bears the 'signatures' of John Lennon and George Harrison in the hand of Neil Aspinall. A couple of very light, minor surface and corner creases. VG. £1000-1200 Provenance: The photograph is annotated in ink to the verso in an unidentified hand, in Italian, indicating that the signatures of McCartney and Starr were obtained on the occasion of The Beatles concert at the Velodromo Vigorelli in Milan on 24th June 1965. Indeed, according to information supplied by the vendor, the signatures were obtained by a security guard. Evidently, as frequently occurred, Lennon and Harrison were otherwise engaged at the time of the signing, and road manager and personal assistant Neil Aspinall added the two signatures on their behalf. Neil Aspinall (1941-2008) British Music Industry Executive, a school friend of McCartney and Harrison. Aspinall was first employed by The Beatles as their road manager, and was later promoted to personal assistant to the band, eventually becoming head of Apple Corps. IAA Ltd are grateful to Tracks for their assistance in authenticating the signatures on the present photo.
Artist: Sian Storey Design: Swinging London About the designThe Beatles. The Kinks. Mary Quant miniskirts. Mini Coopers. Geoff Hurst’s hat-trick. The swinging 60’s... I wish I’d been there! To be a dedicated follower of fashion, skipping along Carnaby Street, and to be a part of the cultural revolution that was Swinging London. This bus depicts an era of creativity that still resonates today in our music, fashion, art and film, and reminds us why London will always be the capital of cool. About the artist I work from my studio in leafy Hampshire and am influenced by the world around me, including travel and popular culture. As an artist I am in love with the process of painting. Quite often I lose myself in an art bubble exploring colour, texture and pattern. If I had to choose one word to describe the theme of my art it would be 'beauty.' But there is a sense if ambiguity too. People, faces, creatures and feminine symbols are lost in intensely coloured or patterned ground, often immersed in fluid glossy varnish and spray paint pools.
