*The Beatles. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (PMC 7027), original 1967 early UK first mono pressing LP by The Beatles, including original unused cutout insert in near mint condition, original red and white psychedelic inner sleeve in excellent condition without seam splits, yellow and black Parlophone labels in excellent condition with only very minor spindle marks and carrying the text "Sold in U.K." and the "KT" tax code on the side 1 label, earliest possible matrix numbers XEX 637-1 and XEX 638-1, vinyl in excellent condition with only a few small marks visible, early fully laminated Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold sleeve in near mint condition with 9mm wide spine and free of any defects, writing, creases or splits and lamination fully intact An important work of British psychedelia, the album incorporates a range of stylistic influences, including vaudeville, circus, music hall, avant-garde, and Western and Indian classical music. Professor Kevin J. Dettmar, writing in the Oxford Encyclopedia of British Literature, described it as "the most important and influential rock and roll album ever recorded". The cover, depicting the band posing in front of a tableau of celebrities and historical figures, was designed by the British pop artists Peter Blake and Jann Haworth. The album's lyrics were printed in full on the back cover, the first time this had been done on a rock LP. The final cost for the cover art was nearly £3,000, an extravagant sum for a time when album covers would typically cost around £50. This is an exceptional example of their psychedelic masterpiece which celebrates its 50th anniversary next year. (1)
