WW1 Period British Officers Travelling Picnic / Tea Set, an interesting gentleman’s travelling tea set retailed by Drew & Sons Piccadilly Circus, London. The set is housed in its original wicker carry case. Includes burner, stand, kettle, crockery, tea bag strainer, tins, etc. Gilt tooled leather liner to the lid of the case with brass match stick holder and striker. Possibly replaced leather closing straps but the original leather handle still in place. Good interesting set. You see many images of British officers in Trenches using similar sets to this example. Many officers purchased items of equipment like this before they left for the horrors of the front line. Drew & Sons operated in Piccadilly, London from the 1880’s up until 1914 when the company owner died, the business then re-located to Regent Street, so this set dates prior to 1915.

George III silver tea set by Alice and George Burrows (London 1805), each pierced rectangular bowed form with engraved initials on ball feet, approximately 32oz altogether CONDITION REPORT Teapot has minor overall denting and surface scratching commensurate with age / use. Some distortion to underside of spout, one foot slightly pushed in (teapot rocks when placed on flat surface) marks are clear. Sugar bowl has some very minor dents and surface scratching commensurate with age / use. Overall wear to interior gilding, hallmarks rubbed but still just legible. Cream jug has minor overall denting / scratching commensurate with age, one side rippled, possibly due to erasing of engraving, marks slightly rubbed but legible. Jug rocks slightly when placed on flat surface (possibly foot pushed in)
