An 'Archibald Knox for Liberty & co Tudric' English pewter tea set circa 1900 consisting of sugar pot, milk jug and tea pot alongside and an Arts & Crafts Roundhead hammered pewter serving tray with half-moon handles. In good condition with a repair being made to the hinge of the teapot alongside a dent to the bottom. Age and use related wear to be expected. (4)
Mid-century home interest- A 1960s Cylinda line tea set designed by Danish architect Arne Jacobsen for Stelton in 1964. The stainless steel set includes tea pot, hot water jug, milk jug, creamer, two canisters and a swivel ashtray. (7 pieces) well used with surface scratches. inside of tea pot is stained, the handles on the hot water jug and the tea pot are different colours, please see the images in the listing.

Oil on canvas, mounted on canvas coated board. Set in a finely carved and gold-lacquered frame. Painted with an evocative summer landscape with a lake extending into the sunlit distance beneath high clouds and swallows, a farmer harrowing the paddy fields with his water buffalo by its shore, with further figures on the bridge and the footpath as well as the open windows of a house, a sampan moored in the reeds at the edge of the lake. Provenance: Martin Gregory, London. Collection of John le Carré, acquired from the above and thence by descent. David John Moore Cornwell (1931-2020), better known by his pen name John le Carré, was an English author, best known for his espionage novels, many of which were successfully adapted for film or television. A sophisticated, morally ambiguous writer, he is considered one of the greatest novelists of the postwar era. During the 1950s and 1960s he worked for both the Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6). He first arrived in Hong Kong in the spring of 1974, spending time in the fabled Foreign Correspondents' Club (FCC). His experiences in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia greatly informed his masterpiece The Honourable Schoolboy (1977).Condition: Expected minor craquelure and soiling here and there. As part of funerary rituals, the seven cups and central jar are fixed to the circular tray having been fired together in the kiln. The glaze stops just above the short base of the tray. The emerald-green and yellow glazes are generously applied overall and are finely crackled.Provenance: From the estate of a notable Hong Kong family, who brought a substantial collection of ceramics, porcelains, and other Chinese works of art with them when they immigrated to Canada in the 1950s. Thence by descent within the family to the last owner.Condition: Good condition commensurate with age, with some firing irregularities and signs of weathering. Soil encrustations typical of objects buried for a prolonged period, chips, glaze drippings, pitting, and glaze recesses.
