SET OF FOUR CHARLES RENNIE MACKINTOSH REPRODUCTION CHAIRS from the Willow Tea Rooms "Room De Luxe" in silver with purple upholstery. Charles Rennie Mackintosh worked on a number of projects with Kate Cranston, including all of her tea rooms on Argyle Street, Buchanan Street, Ingram Street and Sauchiehall Street. With these projects Cranston gave Mackintosh unprecedented artistic freedom with all of her commissions. The Willow Tea Rooms project began in 1901 when Kate Cranston bought the building at 217 Sauchiehall Street and commssioned Mackintosh to redesign the building. Both Margaret Macdonald and Mackintosh worked together on this commission and in particular in the design of the Room de Luxe, and the redesign was completed 2 years later.
