FINE MATCHED WILLIAM IV SILVER FOUR PIECE TEA SERVICE,the hot water pot maker Charles Fox II, London 1835, the remainder Elder & Co., Edinburgh 1836, all in the rococo taste with profuse cast and relief foliate decoration, the hot water pot inscribed 'Presented to William Mure Esqr. on the 50th anniversary of his arrival at St Mary's Isle as a mark of respect & esteem by J. Selkirk, 24th Novr. 1836', the hot water pot 27cm high, the remaining teaware together with a ladle, a fish slice and silver handled carving set in the King's pattern by Mary Chawner, London (various dates), also a pair cast sugar tongs by Marshall & Sons, Edinburgh, all inscribed with 'WM' monogram and date 24th November 1836, the ladle and fish slice further inscribed 'To WM. Mure Esqr. from I.H. & K.J. Douglas', gross approx. 3210g, all housed in an oak twin handled case inscribed to plaque 'Mr William Mure Eqsr.'Ivory Act 2018 (2022) compliant with APHA registration reference SEN6D9RT.Water pot with two noticeable dents to rim, further indents to body without major impacts; tea pot lid slightly 'smiles', numerous small indents to body, some crimping, pitting and nicks, handle slightly loose; sugar bowl and cream jug with similar generalised wear of small indents, both do wobble when on a flat surface; further overall surface scratches, nicks, tarnish and usual general wear commensurate with age and use; box interior with expected wear, tiredness, exterior with general wearTea pot present, images available
