A large and interesting collection of souvenirs and ephemera relating to the 1951 Festival of Britain, to include a set of six plated tea spoons, each decorated with a festival star finial, housed in a fitted case incorrectly inscribed Festival of Britian 1951, various other tea spoons, caddy spoons and letter openers, three glass and plastic paperweights decorated with the festival star and dated 1951, a plated cigarette case, three compacts, a collection of enamelled and other badges, a collection of seven glass and metal ashtrays, a black painted plaster model of a 'Landseer Lion', a Norman Hull pottery dish, a Coldough pottery dish, a pottery bowl with relief decoration, a pewter bachelors teapot decorated with the festival star and the Palace of Westminster, a set of four plastic dishes with pierced decoration, two biscuit tins, a collection of pressed glassware to include beer mugs, shot glasses, a dish, a vase and a cordial set, a pair of rubber place mats, each relief decorated with the Crystal Palace, a collection of brassware to include an alms dish and four horse brasses, a bar of soap, cased, a George VI crown, cased, books of matches, a plated salt and pepper set with enamel decoration, an Efroc wooden jigsaw puzzle showing the South Bank Exhibition, a collection of silk scarves, a collection of postcards mainly showing the South Bank Exhibition, Battersea Park and the opening ceremony, two handbags, each decorated with a festival star pattern, a large collection of related ephemera to include stamps, programmes, magazines, books and pamphlets and other items. The Festival of Britain of 1951 was a national event that exhibited Great Britain's strengths. A centenary of the Great Exhibition of 1851, the festival aimed to prove that Britain had recovered from the recent devastation of war, recession and severe austerity.

An Aynsley "Butterfly" pattern tea / coffee set comprising twelve teacups and saucers, six coffee cups and saucers, twelve side plates, two sandwich plates, coffee pot, teapot, two jugs, sugar and slop bowl CONDITION REPORTS Some light surface scratches, accretions and some light staining to the inside of a couple of the teacups. Some minor wear to the gilt in places. Two of the teacups have an approx 1" crack from the rim downwards. One of the teacups has an area of loss to the top of one of the butterfly wings. Another teacup has a small area of loss to the bottom of one of the butterfly wing handles and another has a tiny chip to the top of one of the butterfly wing handles. The tea pot has three large hair line cracks to the body.
