ENGLISH TORTOISESHELL TEA CADDY - Late 18th c English Tortoiseshell Bowfront Tea Caddy with Mother of Pearl inlay of a Chinese garden on the front, grape vine on top, silver stringing, the coffined lid with exaggerated overhanging molding, matched at base, set on ball feet; interior houses two compartments, ivory edging and knops, remnants of lead foil lining, crimson silk velvet lined lid, 6 1/2" tall, 9 5/8" x 5 1/2", minor losses to shell.
TILT-TOP TEA TABLE - Exceptionally Fine Dense Figured Cuban Mahogany Tea Table, attributed to the workshop of Joseph Short, Newburyport, Mass., second half 18th c., with blocked serpentine shaped tilting top set on well proportioned ring and urn turned shaft, raised on three arch carved cabriole legs, ending in a well defined pointed and padded slipper foot, 27 1/2" tall, 23 1/2" x 24", fine condition.
HISTORICAL TEA BOX - American Tea Box, War of 1812 vintage, with emblem of the Eagle with Shield set in ovals on lid and front, each with 18 stars, which indicates the date of 1812, in birdseye veneer with ebony banded edges, three compartment interior, the lids with brass knops, the inside of the lid lined with later wallpaper, 5 1/8" tall, 9" x 5", minor edge losses, lid slightly sprung.
PAPIER MACHE TEA CADDY - Circa 1850 Black Lacquer and Mother of Pearl Inlaid Papier Mache Tea Caddy with serpentine hinged top, bombe form chest, set on shaped flange feet with lower molding, the interior housing a covered lead lined compartment and velvet lined receptacle for mixing jar (missing), the interior of the lid upholstered in matching velvet, 8 1/2" tall, 12 1/4" x 9" at feet, minor paint flecks, crazing to MOP, ivory knob missing from interior lid.
