A pair of Chinese wucai spiral lobed baluster vases and covers, Kangxi, c.1680, each painted with lines of flowers, leaves and tendrils, lotus petalled covers and borders, 32.5cm high, minor damage***CONDITION REPORT***The first vase has a few small splinter chips to the rim, sellotape residue the neck, a splinter chip to the edge of the cover with some old filler now peeling off, the finial has been cleanly broken and re-glued, slight firing crack to the edge of the foot. A Chinese blue and white ‘Daoist immortals’ yen-yen vase, Kangxi period, the trumpet shaped neck painted with the Sanxing (three star gods); Fu, Lu and Shou and attendants, the baluster shaped body with four versions of Liu Hai dancing by the three legged toad, 46cm high, glaze losses to rim and edge of footcf. a similar Kangxi blue and white yen-yen vase from the Franks collection in the British Museum painted with Daoist immortals, accession No. Franks.277.+.***CONDITION REPORT***Provenance - UK private collection, 1920s or earlier, thence by family descent.This collection of late Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain and bronze vessels has been owned by a single Cotswold family for a number of generations dating back to the 1920s or earlier.The collection was formerly on display at the family home in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire, UK before the house was sold in the 1980s. Some interior photos taken c.1982 show a number of the pieces on display in the family house and an inventory undertaken in 1948 by the local Campden auctioneer and valuer Alfred Bower lists many of the items. Extracts of the 1948 inventory are included where they correspond to the relevant lots in the sale.The rim has several small areas of abrasion and glaze loss, the base has fritting and glaze losses around the edge. A study collection of Chinese blue and white porcelain including a circular bowl, the interior painted with a rampaging four-clawed dragon and central pearl, the exterior painted with further dragons, bearing an apocryphal four-character Kangxi mark to the base, 18 cm diameter, together with other blue and white porcelain.All pieces in the lot display signs of damage, including chips, scratches and hairline cracks, to varying degrees. Signs of wear and tear are visible throughout.
A pair of Chinese Famille Verte porcelain vases and covers, late Qing Dynasty/Early Republic, the domed covers with pommel finials and painted with iron red bands and gilt vines, each perpendicular body painted in the round with flowering vines, stands of bamboo and a lucky crickets. Bearing an apocryphal mark in the seal for Kangxi, seated upon turned hardwood bases, 11 cm diameter x 22 cm height of vase and covers.No apparent damage or repair. Some surface pitting in places, and enamel loss visible on close inspection, notable to the gilt. Wear to the underside of the footrim and inside cover rims.
A blue and white plate, Qing dynasty, Kangxi (1662-1722) Painted with a central shaped medallion of a boy standing in a terraced garden, encircled on the rim by Precious Objects alternating with medallions and a further border on the rim, 23cm. Condition: some spots kiln dust adhering under the glaze, otherwise generally good.
