A CHINESE BLUE AND WHITE PEAR-SHAPED EWER AND COVER QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722) Painted on one side with a lady cradling a baby and the other side with a lady watering a plant, with attendants to either side and under a plantain tree, with inventory label to base 'X 189' 27.5cm high Provenance: Purchased by Howard and Ada Palmer (parents of Reginald Howard Reed Palmer). It appears in the Heathlands Ledger, p. 24 (purchased before 1909 for £2-2s-6d) and described as "An Oriental Ewer (Old Chinese)". It was left to RHRP by Ada Palmer in 1953. It is described in Ada's probate valuation by Simmons of Basingstoke (line 32) as: 'A Chinese porcelain blue and white wine vessel and cover, 10½ in.' The number (X) 189 was assigned to it in the Christie's valuation of 1970. A CHINESE FAMILLE VERTE HEXAGONAL EWER QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722) The faceted sides decorated with panels of dignitaries, attendants, flowers and trees growing amidst rocks, with various flowers on the base of the neck and pierced foliate panels above, all within narrow raised borders, with a pseudo-spout projecting from below the rim and a curved handle set at right angles, raised on a tall spreading foot 20.5 cm without wooden cover and with cover 23.5cm high Provenance: Mallett, 2nd December 1911, purchased by W. Howard and Ada Palmer.  Recorded in the Heathlands ledger p.33, for January 1912 and described as: "A puzzle jug, monster spout and pierced neck, enamelled with figures. 'Khang hi."  Two ewers of this unusual type are illustrated by E. Gorer and J. F. Blacker, Chinese Porcelains and Hard Stones, vol. A PAIR OF CHINESE FAMILLE VERTE PLATES QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722) Each painted with three magpies in flight and perched amongst prunus branches surrounded by bands of phoenix on seeded green grounds, each with inventory labels 'X 135' 24cm diameter (2) Provenance: This pair of plates does not appear in the RHRP Ledger, but were valued by Christie's at probate in 1970 and assigned the reference number (X) 135 as being of pre-eminent quality and outstanding national importance. The label on the underside stating; 'K'ang Hsi period 1662-1723 (sic)' suggests that the pair were almost certainly bought by W. decorated with green scrolling foliage, on a yellow ground, the base with six character Kangxi mark in underglaze blue 42cm high In overall good condition. Some surface scratches and flea bites. Minor paint loss/fading. Base with some age related ware. Additional images now available.

A collection of six Chinese prunus blossom decorated items including a baluster shaped vase and cover bearing faux Kangxi four character mark to base, 17 cm high, another similar baluster vase and cover, 30 cm high and four various ginger jars, all bearing blue concentric ring under glaze marks, one with cover, 20.5 cm high and three without covers, 12 cm high CONDITION REPORTS The small vase and cover - the vase has been significantly broken and repaired. The cover has a large chip to one edge. The larger vase's cover has some losses to the glaze throughout and the dog of Fo has been off and re-glued badly. Otherwise all items have firing faults and general wear and tear conducive with age and use and are in need of a clean. See images for further detail.
