A Pair of French Gilt-Metal-Mounted Chinese Turquoise-Glazed Vases and Covers, the porcelain Kangxi, the mounts later, of hexagonal baluster form with incised foliate decoration, the domed covers with pine cone finials, on pierced borders over twin leaf-scroll handles and stepped bases 35cm high The covers have been drilled to attached the knops. The insides of the necks filled with adhesive so that the covers sit at the right height. The bodies mounted with adhesive. Glaze tighly crazed and pitted. One cover with a section of the rim broken off and re stuck. The two longer edges ground to fit the mounts. The other cover with a large section of loss to the inner rim, two large flat chips to the underside rim. Hair crack to the neck of one vase. No restoration.
