A PAIR OF BLUE & WHITE BOWLS CHENGHUA SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN A DOUBLE CIRCLE , KANGXI PERIOD (1662 - 1722 ) KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITH A DOUBLE CIRCLE AND OF THE PERIOD ( 1662 - 1722 Each bowl is well painted with a continuous scene of a gathering of the Eighteen Scholars of the Tang dynasty shown at various pursuits including playing the qin, playing weiqi, discussing philosophy and books, composing poems, writing calligraphy , all in rocky landscapes with pine and willow, the interiors with a circular medallion enclosing a penzai pine tree in a hexagonal jardinière within a lotus shaped medallion, the inner rim with a band of four panels, enclosing fruiting branches of pomegranate, peach, finger-citron and plum reserved on a diaper ground.From a Belgian private collection 20.3 cm.
