BERNARD LEACH (1887-1979) for Leach Pottery; a stoneware tile, painted and incised with a pot motif, painted early BL and St Ives marks to front and four impressed St Ives marks to rear, 10 x 10cm. Provenance: Purchased from Alex McErlain, 1994. CONDITION REPORT: Small chip to top edge otherwise appears good with no obvious signs of damage, repair or restoration. Top edge: 0.6cm wide chip and a tiny 0.3cm chip to the top middle edge. Thin glaze to bottom left edge, firing bubbles to edges and all over tiny ones as would be expected - all firing imperfections.
ERICA MATTINGLY (born 1929); two earthenware slip decorated 'broken wave' tiles mounted on slate, tile dimensions 13 x 13.5cm and 14 x 14cm (2). Provenance: Purchased from the artist, 1984. CONDITION REPORT: Smaller tile has hairline crack and the slate is fractured, otherwise appears good with no obvious signs of damage, repair or restoration.
