AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH PORCELAIN HEXAGONAL PLAQUE centrally decorated with flowers on a mossy bank, 24cm diameter (cracked and reduced) together with two 19th century English porcelain tiles of apple green ground, centrally decorated with scrolling gilt framed cartouche with sprays of flowers, each tile approximately 14cm square (3)
A mahjong set, in leather case, 144 tablets, and four rosewood tile holders. Case width 23 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The stands are in generally good order with only minor surface scratches, scuffs and blemishes. One stand is painted with a red lacquer and some of this has chipped and rubbed revealing the rosewood underneath. The case itself is all complete but is showing signs of wear. There are numerous scuffs to the corners of the lid and various stress cracks, scratches and scuffs to the main body of the leather. There are some small areas of loss to the leather particularly on the front top left and right hand lid corners and the front facing corner edges, these are not bound in the same way as the bottom and rear edges.
A Bernard Leach 10cm square tile painted with a leaping dear in iron brushwork, sgraffito potters and pottery marks, the back with four impressed pottery marks. (See illustration) Condition Report: Contact flaw to front. slight edge chips, a hairline crack or firing flaw on one edge extends 2.5 cm on the back but is not visible on the front.

See images for more details. The majority of modern pictures have general wear and tear, the older prints have rips, fading, foxing, etc conducive with age and use. Would recommend viewing entire lot in person.

A group of three rectangular green-glazed temple tiles comprising: a border of lozenge rosettes with a frog to each angle, blue central panel with reserved high-relief image of a chariot pulled by four horses; a high-relief image of a chariot pulled by four horses; an image of a charging bull ridden by a warrior with helmet, shield and drawn sword, four conical projections. Property of an American gentleman; acquired on the London art market in the 1990s. 5.3 kg, 26.5 x 18cm - 29 x 19.5cm (10 1/2 x 11 - 11 1/2 x 7 3/4"). [3] Fine condition, one tile repaired.
BERNARD LEACH POTTERY TILE depicting onion man seller circa 1943, impressed marks to reverse. Provenance: vendor's father received tile during the war as a gift. 10cm wide. CONDITION REPORT: Some chips and losses to corners and straight sided rims. Marks to base are difficult to make out. Rather grubby, significant chips.
