A Scottish silver and citrine mounted suite of a dress dirk, a skein dbhu and a plaid brooch, retailer`s mark `MacDougall`s London` overstriking the maker`s mark, Edinburgh 1928, the brooch by Thomas Kerr Ebbutt, Edinburgh 1925, the dirk with an unnamed faceted back edge 33.5cm blade, the silver hilt with engraved celtic designs, the pommel set with a cut citrine, in its leather covered scabbard with conforming silver mounts, and complete with companion knife and fork mounted en-suite, the locket engraved with a crest, 50cm (19in) long overall; the skein dbhu conforming, 18.5cm long overall; the circular brooch similar, with a central cut lozenge shape citrine, 9cm diameter, in a fitted mahogany box. The vendor has provided the following information: The crest of Maxwell of Herries. This set possibly a wedding gift from Gwendolyn, Lady Herries and Duchess of Norfolk (she inherited the Scottish title as the 12th Lady Herries of Terregles in 1937) to her son Bernard, 16th Duke Of Norfolk, also in 1937.
