A Scottish Military-Style Piper’s Dirk, first half of the 20th century, straight single edge blade cut with 2 fullers, bog oak hilt carved with basket weave and inset with nickel pins, in its patent leather covered wooden sheath with nickel mounts, the locket with Scottish lion, lower mounts with thistle each made to retain a companion knife (absent) and fork (present), the back engraved P.6., good condition, pommel and thistle from chape both missing.
Miniature Scottish False Dirk, being a well made ¾ size dirk but with no blade. Carved lattice work handle with white metal thistle decorated top mount and amber coloured glass stone pommel. Scabbard also has white metal thistle decorated mounts and knife and fork pieces (again no blades and cannot be removed) with amber coloured glass stones set top the tops. Dirk measures 30 ½ cm in length.
Three pairs of 19th century steel and ivory handled knives and forks, with square handles, the knife blades marked Dewsnap, together with a Georgian silver condiment spoon, London 1807, a Georgian marrow spoon, London 1809, a Georgian condiment fork, with bright cut decoration, London 1804, two other hallmarked silver spoons, a hallmarked silver jug, a miniature snuff spoon and a silver plated coloured propelling pencil set with suspension loop
A Mappin & Webb oak cased canteen of cutlery, twelve place settings, one table fork missing, and meat and game carvers. CONDITION REPORT: All items are very dirty. The dessert forks are in generally good condition. The table forks are showing more signs of wear particularly to the plating at the very ends of the back of the tines. The dessert spoons are similarly showing wear on the backs of the rat's tails and at the ends of the bowls. The same comments apply to the tablespoons. The tea spoons are in poor condition having lost much of the plating. The ladles are in good order. All of the knife blades are in good condition. The knife handles are all yellowed, discoloured and have lost their original surface finish.
