A SUITE OF SILVER FLATWARE BY MAPPIN & WEBB, Sheffield 1953, of rat-tail pattern, comprising eight dessert spoons, eight dessert forks, eight dinner forks, eight silver handled dinner knives, eight fish knives, eight fish forks, eight soup spoons, four table spoons, pair of sauce ladles, total appoximate weight 108oz. See illustration All are by the same makers but the dates vary: 2 dessert forks 1950 1 dessert form 1951 2 table knives 1937 2 table knives 1939 4 table knives 1946 There are 7 cheese knives that are in the photograph in the catalogue but not included in the description. They are all the same date and maker as the set i.e. Mappin & Webb, Sheffield 1953. One table fork is of the same pattern but from a different set and is by Martin Hall & Co Ltd, Sheffield 1922, it bears an unknown crest. One table spoon is of the same pattern but is made by H.F & Co, Sheffield 1908 and is slightly smaller than the other.

Three Walking Sticks: A cow-horn stick with thin ivory band inlaid to the collar and a hook handle, 37 ins (94 cms) in length. An ebony shafted stick with a carved horn handle in the form of a wading bird's head with pearl in bill, 33½ ins (85 cms) in length. A stained wooden stick with a carved bird's head handle formed from a branch fork and inset with glass eyes, 34½ ins (88 cms) in length.
A set of five George II Scottish silver three pronged table forks "Old English" pattern, bearing "Hope", globe and crown motif, inscribed "At Spec Infracta" (by Kerr & Dempster with Hugh Gordon Assay Masters mark, Edinburgh 1751), together with one associated white metal three prong table fork, 12.45 oz (including weight of white metal table fork) (6) CONDITION REPORTS PLEASE NOTE REVISED CATALOGUE DESCRIPTION - this Lot comprises a set of five table forks plus one white metal associated table fork (not hallmarked). Overall with wear, scuffs and scratches, various scuffs and mis-shaping to the prongs. One fork is white metal and is a lighter weight than the others, and appears to have been re-made/re-configured and the moulding of the prongs is different, also the hallmarks to this fork may have been removed or these may now simply be rectangular indentations to simulate the patterning of hallmarks, inscription and crown to the reverse of this particular fork is also much crisper than the others.
