A 19th century cased hallmarked silver fish slice and fork set; the pierced slice decorated with scrolling foliage and the five-pronged fork similarly decorated; both engraved with armorial crest to the handles; maker's mark HW& Co., assayed Sheffield 1865 CONDITION REPORT: When the case is closed it closes very tightly and you have to push the spring loaded catch in quite hard to open it again. The case itself shows scuffs and scratches commensurate with age to the outside and underside. When you open the case the blue silk/satin lining has discoloured and it looks like there foxing. There is also a small 1cm tear to the top left hand corner. The blue velvet which the piece sits in looks reasonable there are some minor match head sized pieces away from the velvet. The slice has full hallmarks to both the blade and handle and the cartouche is engraved with an armorial crest. This looks to be in very good overall original condition. The fork equally so with good hallmarks to the head and also the handle. In seemingly good honest original condition with no major problems noted.
