A Romano British greyware vessel, circa 1st /2nd century A.D.; wheel thrown with everted rim and ribbed exterior, (with circa 2cm hole, low to one side); 20cm high, 24cm diameterPROVENANCE: Discovered by a gardener in the Staines-upon-Thames area, Surrey, in the early 20th century and retained by the householders and their family since then. His garden fork pierced the vessel when he found it.

A pair of sterling silver serving utensils, including a fork and a spoon, crafted by Whiting Manufacturing Co. A Cased Set of George V Silver and Mother-of-Pearl Fruit-Eaters, by Walker and Hall, Sheffield, 1920 the handles each stained with a crest, comprising 12 fruit-knives and 11 fruit-forks, in fitted oak case, the brass shield engraved with initialsthe case 30.5cm wide (23)Each piece fully marked. The marks are clear. There is some minor surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the stained crests on some pieces. One fruit-fork is lacking and there is an empty space in the case for this example. There are some scuffs and marks to the case.
