Rose, salitires in cross-ends, Spink 2337C, full, round, striking crack into legend, rough surfaces, F, together with a ditto but postumously struck by Edward VI, reverse reads:- POSVI [Tower Mint], mm. Lis, annulet enclosing pellet in reverse fork ends, Spink 2403, both with old tickets, full, round, NF/F [2]

A WWII German pilot's wrist compass, the circular dial inscribed 'Kadlec Instrumenfabrik', stores stamps to back plate, Werk Nr 11438, with leather strap, together with an ARP brass bell, additionally stamped 'Fiddian' with wooden handle, 26 cm high, Third Reich aluminium fork with Wermacht eagle, stamped 'W.S.M 41 Rostfrei', 18 cm long, pair of cast iron plaques for Army & Navy, 26 x 24 cm, plus a treen letter opener from HMS Ajax (Battle of the River Plate) (6)
A German 800 standard silver Art Deco part canteen of cutlery, by Gebruder Koberlin, Dobeln, circa 1925, of tapering angular form, comprising; three table spoons, nine sundae spoons, three tea spoons, one dessert fork and one dessert knife, weight 20 oz, together with other various silver and plated wares.
*A Bates of Westcliff 'Vegrandis', lightweight gentleman's bicycle, a 1950s (?) 22-inch frame with an indistinct number of, ???C823, it possesses a tapered top tube and Diadrant front forks, Westcliffe on Sea headstock badge, Vegrandis cut-away lugs, lamp lugs back and front but no pump pins, chain holder, rat trap pedals with leather toe clips, chromium-plating forks. Osgear rear fork ends with a Cyclo chain adjuster and 6 1/2-inch cranks, Endrick rims and a pair of 'Constrictor' aluminium (Duralumin) dropped handlebars with an unusual adjustable stem (1)
*A Hetchins 'Experto Crede' Bicycle Frame, restored to a high standard, to include reproduction decals, with a visible 'H' on the off-side rear fork, but re-enamelling appears to have obliterated the number, the 22-inch frame possesses silver soldered brake cable pins, front fork lamp bracket mount, gear cable guide and chain hanger on the rear fork, Hetchins headstock badge. Included in the lot are two 27x1 1/4-inch rims incorporating a double-fixed hub (3)
*A circa 1904 'Columbia' Shaft Drive gentleman's 'Model 66' light roadster by The Pope Mfg., Co., having a 23-inch sprung frame with a coil spring housing just below the saddle, with fulcrums at the bottom bracket and rear fork stays, the shaft drive mechanism in good original condition, and retains its oil reservoir threaded cap, 7-inch cranks with rat trap pedals, a three-speed hub gear with a Sturmey Archer thumb control on the 20-inch handlebars, (no cable fitted) and centre-pull cantilever brake on the front Endrick rim. The original front mudguard is insitu and this rare bicycle comes with a snub-nose leather saddle and Lucas bell. A good refurbishment project See also lot 530. (1)
*A Transitional VelocipÅ de. Possessing a 38-inch iron tyred driving wheel, and a 22-inch rear wheel, the unusual duplex backbone splits to form a fork at the rear and creating a housing at the front for a steering head and hock support, the 25-inch wide handlebars have nicely turned rosewood grips and a ruggle bell is fitted, the saddle support spring possesses a newly covered leather pan saddle, triangular pedals with feet guards are fitted to 6-inch cranks (1)
*A circa 1900 'Columbia', very rare gentleman's light roadster by The Pope Mfg. Co., having a 22-inch frame with a leaf spring front fork, with fulcrums at the bottom of the fork stays, the dual-roller inch-pitch chain and sprockets are in good condition, and drive a New Departure back-pedalling brake hub, and front hub, favoured devices offered by Columbia from 1898, one-piece 7 1/2-inch cranks with rat trap pedals are fitted and retain their original nickel-plating, the deep-set hickory 'scorching' handlebars, again favoured by Columbia at this time to special order, possess long black grips, the saddle is an early competition accessory with a brown leather top, a frame-mounted tool bag is fitted. A good original bicycle with wooden rims and cream 28-inch tyres. Please also see lot 526 (1)
*Fabrique Nationale Shaft Drive Bicycle. An early twentieth century bicycle with a 24 1/2-inch frame, 17-inch handlebars with grey celluloid grips, 28-inch Westwood rims finished in black enamel with gilt accentuation lines and cream tyres fitted, the shaft drive mechanism appears to be intact and working well benefitting from original cranks and period pedals. Front and rear oil lamps are fitted, as are front fork mounted foot rests, leather saddle and a plunger brake (1)
*1900 Raglan No 17 Roadster. A gentleman's bicycle with a 23 1/2-inch black-enamelled frame with a cottered bottom bracket, 'D'-section mudguards with original 28-inch rims retaining their identification plates, and with an original front tyre fitted (1 1/2-inch wide front and 1.3/8 at the rear). Other features include an inch-pitch driving chain to a fixed rear wheel, an 8-inch chain set with 7-inch cranks and rubber block pedals, 18-inch curved-flat handlebars with celluloid grips, a '1900 Leatheries' saddle, leather frame bag and tool bag. The plunger brake operating on the front wheel is nicely nickel-plated, as are the handlebars, cranks, fork caps and seat stem. The feet supports on the front forks are painted. The particular joy of this bicycle is that it comes with its original June 1900 dated receipt for .8.0, quoting a frame number of B4592, and is in significantly rideable condition. A photocopy of a 1900 Raglan catalogue comes with its purchase (1)
*A circa 1931 Raleigh Record. A forerunner of the Record Ace, a lower frame model with a number of 16761, having a black enamel finish and decals, the 22-inch frame includes a chain wheel dated 'S' (1931), driving a double fixed hub, Endrick rims with wingnuts back and front, a Bowden cable operated contracting brake to the front wheel, North Road handlebars mounted on a single tube extension, Raleigh pneumatic pump, rat-trap pedals with toe clips and a Lucas 'Calcia Cadet' acetylene gas lamp fitted to the nearside fork with a bell and a B17 saddle (1)
*A circa 1884 Starley & Sutton 'Meteor No 2' 52-inch Ordinary. A good original bicycle, having 3/4-inch crescent rims, 28-inch cow-horn handlebars with later turned grips, spoon brake to the driving wheel, 6-inch cranks with a 17-inch trailing wheel and a mounting step, the handlebars and fork crown retain their original nickel-plating, and a shield-shaped nameplate features on the circular backbone (1)
*A Stearns & Co., of Syracuse USA, a loop frame 'Model Special' ladies bicycle having a 23-inch frame, cottered bottom bracket, dual-roller inch-pitch chain and chain wheel and 6-inch cranks and block rat trap pedals, (not fitted), a coasting rear hub, open fork crown, blind end forks, nickel-plated semi-up turned handlebars with good period grips and a small bell. A Christy type saddle with original padding but miss its leather top, a rear painted wooden mudguard and cushion rubber tyres. Currently painted orange, an easy refurbishment project (1)
*A Hetchins 'Experto Crede', dating from the mid-1960s (?) this delightful bicycle has been restored to a high standard, to include period decals. With a visible number of H8070 on the near-side rear fork, the 24-inch frame possesses silver soldered brake cable pins, front fork lamp bracket, gear cable guide and Hetchins headstock badge. A Campagnolo chain-set and 18-speed compagnolo rear hub, side-pull compagnolo brakes, Weinmann 27-inch rims and Continental tyres are fitted. Other features include a bottle carrier, rear rack and rear light. Pedals are not fitted (1)
