A George III Inlaid Mahogany Wheelcase Barometer and Thermometer, by J. Gregory of No. 17 Ryders Court, Leicester Square, in case inlaid with leaves and shells, 39ins highCondition ReportThe instrument is in good overall condition.  Externally the woodwork being free from any serious defects, there are some light marks commensurate with age and usage.  The glass to the front, the gilding is mostly missing and re-gilding would be recommended.  The silvering to the dial is in good condition, although dirty and the glass itself is unmarked and free from cracks and chips.  The thermometer itself appears to have the correct amount of  mercury and it is showing up the gauge.  The silvered dial to the thermometer again is dirty but legible with all the writing clear and concise.  The rear is in good condition, largely unmarked.  It bears trade label for G Trollop & Sons with the number 205 written in fountain pen.  The hinges to the back are in good condition although one screw is missing on the top hinge.  Overall an honest example.

There is some light scattered fading to the case but the case appears to retain its original polished surface.
