When the pressure inside the plastic bag is increased, the needle of the barometer moves.

This desk companion was presented in thanks for his heroic effort during the rescue of injured miners.

(108cm.) highFootnote: The wide tube on this instrument allows for precise measurements to be recorded as the mercury will even to a flat surface.Condition report: Good overall condition. Mercury drained (for reasons of weight) but available. Both tubes later replacement.

A Victorian walnut wheel barometer with 8in silvered dial signed 'W. H. YOUNG BOSTON' 95cm high. Condition Report The barometer is in unrestored condition. The tube is not broken. There is a part of the applied scroll on top left which is lost, see main image. The right hand side of the thermometer case has become loose, the glue has failed. This part and the glass we have. Attractive figuring in the wood, some marks and knocks consistent with age. No hard marker adjuster knob.
