LARGE REGENCY MAHOGANY "BANJO" BAROMETER with a silvered dial, a thermometer, a dry/damp indicator and a level in the base, signed "A. Abraham, Liverpool", 116cm high x 37cm wide maximum. Abraham Abraham is recorded as setting up in business in Liverpool in 1817. This example is particularly large in scale with finely chosen flame-figured mahogany veneers to the case.

Electric timepiece in gilt case, 7.5” by Howard Miller with seconds dial, thermometer, barometer and hygrometer, back stamped No.4RG897 JAPAN; a Smith’s clockwork bulkhead clock 2.25” in plated mount (glass missing); and a British Rototherm Thermometer 2.25” in plated desk mount. Average good condition.

George Wadham, Bath a mahogany stick barometer: the arched bone dial engraved with usual barometer markings and engraved Geo. Wadham, Bath, with a thermometer set to the left-hand side, the case having a turned cistern to the base and visible tube to the trunk with brass holding brackets, height 96cms. * Biography George Wadham, born 1820, is recorded as working prior to 1846 at 24 Union Passage, Bath having married Sarah in circa 1842 with whom he had four children. By 1850 he had premises at 14 Stall Street where he employed 4 workers and 3 apprentices. In 1852 he took over the business of the well-known Bath clockmaker Benjamin Lautier at 4 Orange Grove. Wadham died in February 1878, aged 58, of alcoholism and congestion of the lungs at 9, Milsom Street. * Note Reference Ian White Watch & Clockmakers in the City of Bath, Pub. Thomas Rubergall, Coventry Street, London a mahogany wheel barometer: the eight-inch round silvered dial engraved with usual barometer markings and signed Thos. Rubergall, 24 Coventry Street, London, with a blued steel hand, brass pointer and heavy cast-brass Georgian bezel, the mahogany case with boxwood stringing and having a round silvered dial, an inset hygrometer and arched thermometer, the whole surmounted by a swan-neck pediment with cast-brass vase finial, height 100cms. * Biography Thomas Rubergall is recorded as working in Princes Street, Soho, London in circa 1802 and then 27 Coventry Street from 1805 until 1823 and 24 Coventry Street from 1826 until 1854. A Victorian oak stick barometer, with exposed tube and carved head and foot. CONDITION REPORT: The dial is faded and worn. The thermometer glass is loose in its fitting. The top of the mercury tube is missing a mount. The top centre of the carved wood has been broken off and is missing. Looking directly at the barometer, the top right had side foliate carving is missing its tips. There are air bubbles throughout the mercury in the tube. In general this requires a professional restoration throughout.
An Edwardian style mahogany cased aneroid barometer, with alcohol thermometer. Height 69 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The barometer appears to be in generally very good condition. The case is in good order with no significant issues. The silvered brass dial is in good condition. There are some blemishes to the silvering on the thermometer plate. The brass circumference to the circular plate is tarnished and has lost much of its original lacquered finish.
