Maker to His Majesty', above a thermometer, tube and orb-shaped cistern cover with a rounded base,98cm highProvenance: The Estate of a Gentleman Dealer.George Adams Junior is recorded by Edwin Banfield as being apprenticed to his father, also called George, in 1765 and taking over the family business, at 60 Fleet Street, London, on his father's death in 1773. He continued his father's tradition of producing outstanding instruments and became instrument maker to George III and optician to the Prince of Wales. He died in 1795 leaving the business to his younger brother, Dudley.

A 20th century Banjo shaped Aneroid oak cased barometer with including a clock face with Roman numeral characters and faceted hands, an inset thermometer and barometer featuring the readings Stormy, Rain, Fair and Very Dry. The item has carved floral detailing and features a shell carved into the pediment. Measures: 91cm high x 32cm wide.

A large pottery wall mounted thermometer, 19th century with printed gauge by J.H. Steward, 456 West Strand, London, 52 cm high, 11.5 cm wide (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The thermometer is in extremely good condition generally. There are no chips to the pottery. There is some discolouration around the bottom mounting plate screw and a small old hairline crack to the left of the screw which runs for approximately 1 cm. There is rust discolouration around the screw and also visible crazing. The thermometer operates. The metalwork is clearly tarnished but all present.
A Victorian dual stick barometer and thermometer by Callaghan and Co, 23A New Bond Street, Corner of Conduit Street, London, the barometer with engraved ivory register plate with twin vernier scales, marked '9 AM Yesterday' and '9 AM Today', further engraved ivory plate for thermometer marked for both 'Fahrenheit' and 'Centigrade', produced between 1857 and 1875, 15 by 9 by 100cm high.
