A Victorian carved oak aneroid barometer, 89 cm high. CONDITION REPORT: The case is in generally good order. The moulding above the thermometer should be matched by one below. The one below is missing. There are some scratches and marks to the left hand side of the case. The dial has two faint hairline cracks and is a little discoloured. The thermometer and movement appear to work although we cannot guarantee this.
A country house oversized mahogany veneered barometer, the swans neck pediment with brass vase finial above dry damp scale, thermometer, dial and level, the level signed for C Maspero Manchester, the dial approximately 37 cm, Charles Maspero noted as working in Manchester circa 1850-70. 134 cm high. NOTE - smaller barometer for size comparison only (see illustration).

A Victorian brass and mahogany ship's barometer, the plain squared case with maker's plaque to the top and enclosed ivory scale incorporating a thermometer, H.38.5in.CONDITION: Overall of even reddish brown mahogany tone, top has a suspension ring in additional to the adjustable gimbal mount, case is in fair state of polish, small section of damage near the top hinge to the scale door, ivory scale a little dirty and discoloured as are other ivory mounts, brass works looks original, overall good condition.

A George III mahogany mercury stick barometer, Charles Aiano, London, circa 1810, with open triangular pediment above line-edged glazed door enclosing rectangular silvered Vernier scale calibrated in barometric inches and with the usual observations to the right opposing Fahrenheit scale spirit thermometer to the left, the upper margin signed C. Aianno, the caddy moulded trunk with visible tube flanked by figured mahogany veneers within chevron line border over rounded base with hemispherical cistern cover and level adjustment screw to underside, 97cm (38ins approx.) high. Charles Aiano is recorded in Banfield, Edwin BAROMETER MAKERS AND RETAILERS 1660-1900 as working in London circa 1790-1820; he is believed to have moved to Canterbury in around 1825.Condition Report: Dreweatts cannot guarantee the mechanism as working, we recommend getting it cleaned and overhauled by a professional restorer, There is mercury in the cistern and showing in the tube, The hinge holding the door closed at time of report, the internal slide is working and adjustable, Some old splits and cracks to the timber, this is mainly near the 'throat'Please refer to additional image for visual reference to condition Condition Report Disclaimer
