λA late 19th century continental fruitwood octagonal tea caddy, with a hammered pewter and inset rondel, with interior cover, 5in (12.8cm) high, a brass and turned wood coat hook, a turned rosewood whistle, with extending end pierced one hole, 6Όin (16cm) long, a 19th century turned rosewood inkwell with blue glass liner, 3Όin (8.2cm) diameter, a travelling thermometer, inscribed `W.C.Mellink, Zutphen,` the carved case inscribed `K HvaVeen,` and a treen ladle. A brass compendium desk piece, comprising, thermometer, aneroid barometer and timepiece, circa 1900, in a fitted travelling case with key, single barrel movement with a platform escapement, underside of the case stamped Brevete and numbered 976, 14cm wide 17.12.13, Brass case has faded to the surfaces, both enamel dials are clean, movement with balance swinging and in going order, thermometer dial has faded, outer fitted case is very slightly worn.
A gilt brass compendium desk piece, comprising a compass, timepiece, thermometer and aneroid barometer, circa 1900, 16cm x 17cm 17.12.13, Case with the gilding faded, bevelled glass panels look clean, dial for the timepiece with some minor scratches, later platform lever escapement, compass dial with some minor scratches and needs silvering, plastic bag test for the aneroid barometer has been done and the barometer hand does move correctly and appears to be working, balance is swinging and in going order.
A Thomas Staight sundial compass, the white 3cm dial signed T. Staight, London beneath the glass dome within an ornamental ivory collar and disc, this mounted with a curved mercury thermometer with Fahrenheit and Reaumur scales, the whole in a red morocco covered case, overall diameter 9.5cm. Note: An identical instrument is in the Gadd Collection, The National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, ref. D8654.
A RARE AND UNUSUAL BRASS CASED ANEROID BAROMETER BY JOHN BLACK - ACCRINGTON, this large barometer is mounted on a mahogany base board with a cast brass casing, the barometer has a white ceramic cone beneath a decorative dial, above a ceramic thermometer, dedication plaque reads - Presented to Brother Joseph Marshall for his services at the Loyal Pleasant Valley Lodge - Rishton in 1895, H 76 cm.
An Edwardian silver desk compendium, by Collett & Anderson, Birmingham 1927, of engine turned rectangular form with central foliate bow surmount and easel back, the central attached thermometer flanked by plated clock and barometer, the dials inscribed Harrods Ltd, initialled to easel, 10.5 x 15.5cm, in fitted case Case worn. Small knocks. Dials discoloured. Surrounds of dials were plated and this has rubbed off. Dent to one corner.
