A late 19th century French lacquered brass combination carriage clock, 8cm white enamel dial inscribed A La Gerbe d' Cr Ducellier Arcy, Amiens, Roman numerals, regulating selector, the slightly oversailing top with 6.5cm silvered thermometer register centred by a compass, reeded columnar carrying handle and pilasters, plinth base with notched frieze, bracket feet, 20cm high, c. 1890
A Victorian Derbyshire pietra dura desk thermometer , the arched top thermometer inlaid with entwined flowers and rose sprays, mercury level thermometer on ivory plaque 'W Pratt & Son, Torquay', 21cm high CONDITION REPORT: The ivory back plate to the thermometer is cracked at the top where the pin is. Hair line cracks to the base of the upper section - this is at the bottom where the ivory back plate finished (see images) Some small nicks to the front of the arched top on the front, two to the back of the arch - these are bigger. Some small chips to all four corners of the base and to one of the edges of the base. Please note: Trevanion & Dean does not ship items containing ivory outside the EU.The government have proposed legislation to create a UK law to ban the sale of all ivory which is likely to come into effect by the end of 2018. An early H.G. Murphy silver and ivory thermometer, rounded rectangular form, rope-work border and loop terminal, with niello decoration of a sun within foliate and scroll borders, ivory back panel, the glass thermometer broken, stamped H.G.M. monogram, 22.5cm long. Provenance H.G. Murphy (1884-1939), and thence by descent to the present owner. Paul Atterbury and John Benjamin, The Jewellery and Silver of H.G.
