A 20th Century black enamelled, silvered and brass Fortin pattern laboratory stick barometer of cylindrical form, the glazed upper section enclosing a silvered vernier scale, detailed `No. 7106, A Gallenkamp & Co Ltd, London`, above a mercury thermometer to trunk and cistern, length approx 105cm, within an oval and glazed case with hinged door (lacking mercury).
A mid 19c five dial scroll pediment wheel barometer by Fagoli & Son, 11 Baldwin Gardens. The indications comprise, top to bottom, a hygrometer, a mercury Fahrenheit thermometer, a convex wall mirror, the large 12" diam barometer dial and a spirit level. The case is of mahogany with ebonised edge banding and the scales are all of silvered brass. The case is surmounted by a scroll pediment with central ivory finials, the convex glass over the barometer dial is broken, the barometer stands 40" tall.
P. Caminda, a mahogany stick barometer: the silvered dial engraved with typical gauge, maker`s name P. Caminda, Taunton and set with a thermometer to the side, with a glazed hinged door, the mahogany case with a visible tube, crossbanding to the sides, a turned cistern to the base and an architectural pediment with a turned brass finial to the centre, height: 97cm. * Peter Caminda is recorded as working in the High Street, Taunton from circa 1820 until at least 1845.
