A Fin de Siecle mahogany and rosewood cased wheel barometer, with thermometer, of neoclassical form, the swan neck pediment with urn surmount above a frieze inlaid with the head of Mercury, twin ionic columns, case marquetry inlaid with figures and a globe, above a fluted base, 32 by 101cm high.
A U.S. spirit filled alloy gauge. For indicating the pitch of an airship. Thermometer style brass scale O degrees – 40 degrees in either direction. The body marked “Karl Anderson Ithaca New York”. Plus a blackened alloy curved gauge for airship roll, scale O degrees – 20 degrees in either direction, maker’s name Elliott, with WD mark, “Made in England” and Regd. No 627956 (late 1914), 175mm overall. Together with a circular alloy quick-release catch for aircrew harness, with lever. Diameter 65mm. Paper label states “Zeppelin crewman’s buckle”. GC. (3). A French enameled double carriage barometer/clock Early 20th century, unsigned, back plate stamped ``Made in France``, the glazed rectangular case of gilt metal with enamel floral decoration divided by columns enclosing a clock and barometer with circular white enamel dials, flanking a thermometer, with a compass set into top, 6.25`` H x 6.5`` W x 2.75`` D Condition: Overall good condition. General light marks, scratches and rubbing commensurate with age. Surfaces recently lacquered, except for top. Compass lacking needle and glass aperture. Wind and runs. A George III mahogany wheel barometer early 19th century, the case edged with boxwood and ebony and with broken arch pediment, silvered hygrometer dial, alcohol thermometer, convex mirror in a reeded ebonised mount, 7¾in. silvered dial, turned ivory pointer wheel and silvered spirit level signed `S. Hart Malmesbury`, 39in. (99cm.) high.

Negretti & Zambra, London a large and impressive carved oak Gothic barometer, with historic figures mounted within the canted corners either side of the silvered barometer dial and seated lions below, with a further figure of an angel standing below the dial, a thermometer set within the trunk, signed ‘Negretti & Zambra, Scientific Instrument Makers to Her Majesty’, height 158cm.* Negretti & Zambra, a partnership formed by Enrico Negretti and Joseph Zambra, are recorded as working at various addresses in London from 1850 and were the most prolific makers of barometers at this time having taken over the business of the leading maker John Frederick Newman in 1862. They were instrument-makers to Queen Victoria and the Prince Consort.
Abram, Bath, a mahogany stick barometer the silvered barometer register plate engraved with a vernier gauge and thermometer set within, signed ‘Abram, Bath’, the mahogany case with a visible tube, turned cistern cover and a pediment top with brass finial to the centre, height 88cm.* Jacob Abraham is recorded as working at 1, St Andrew’s Terrace, Bath and then 7, Bartlett Street ‘near the Upper Rooms’ until 1814 as well as having premises in Cheltenham ‘adjoining Mr Thompson’s Pump Room’. He was instrument maker to both the Duke of Gloucester and the Duke of Wellington.
