1962 Austin J40 Pedal Car Transmission: Mileage:The Austin J40 pedal car is a miniature replica of the Austin A40 motor car produced by the Austin Motor Company in the 1950s. The J40 was designed for children aged between three and six years old, and it quickly became a popular toy car in post-war Britain. The car was made from heavy-gauge steel. The J40 was available in a range of colors, including red, green, blue, and yellow. This lovely example is presented in Tartan Red with white Rexon upholstery, white steering wheel and headlights. In very good condition, these examples are highly sought-after and can be seen particularly at the Goodwood Revival. This J40 has been beautifully restored including a full re-grease and new bearings on the running gear and axle with original parts restored/re-chromed. All electrics work €“ headlights and horn! The only silent racing cars at the Goodwood Revival aren't Formula E cars that have snuck in unnoticed. They're the Austin J40 pedal cars of the one-make start-finish thrash that is the Settrington Cup, powered by the kids of the great and the good at the Revival. Without anything close to a single horsepower, a licence to race or even drive they may be, but it's no less competitive. It's a fight down to the wire at the end, too. Slow and steady wins the race with energy reserved at the start fully deployed towards the end to overtake the leader and take the win. With that kind of tactical racing mindset, Mercedes-Benz AMG Petronas F1 may one day come knocking! Today, the J40 pedal car is highly sought-after by collectors and enthusiasts, and original examples can fetch high prices at auction.

1989 Mercedes-Benz 280 GE Transmission: automaticMileage:123484The Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon, short for Geländewagen, (cross-country vehicle) is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature. The G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced Mercedes-Benz in Daimler's history. It was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran and offered as a civilian version in 1979. The first major refinements were introduced in 1981, including an automatic transmission, air conditioning, an auxiliary fuel tank, protective headlamp grilles and a cable winch. Fuel injection became available in 1982 when the 230 GE was introduced in Turin, along with more comfortable and supportive front seats, auxiliary heating, wider tyres and fender flares. For 1985, differential locks, central door locking and a tachometer become standard. This lovely example is presented in metallic grey with grey cloth interior and is powered by its 2.7 litre six cylinder engine mated to an automatic gearbox. It is an original matching number car with a history file containing service receipts for the last four years and has the original manual. This Mercedes was stored between 2007 and 2019 hence its lovely condition inside and out! The interior is in wonderful original condition even retaining its original dashboard. It comes with a valid MoT test certificate which expires in October 2023. These are great recreation vehicles still suited for the purpose they were built but also look smart and retro for special occasions.

Lot 135

1992 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon GES 300 Transmission: automaticMileage:103725The Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon, short for Geländewagen (cross-country vehicle), is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature. The G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced Mercedes-Benz vehicles in their history with a span of 32 years. It was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran and offered as a civilian version in 1979. The first major refinements were introduced in 1981, including an automatic transmission, air conditioning, an auxiliary fuel tank, protective headlamp grilles and a cable winch. Fuel injection became available in 1982 when the 230GE was introduced in Turin, along with more comfortable and supportive front seats, auxiliary heating, wider tyres and wheel arches. For 1985, differential locks, central door locking and a tachometer became standard. This example is very well presented in metallic Beryll Blue, (which is actually Green in colour), with cream cloth trim. This GES 300 G-Wagon was originally supplied to Guernsey, the supplied service book shows it was first registered there on 12th June 1992. Unusually well appointed, this GES 300 comes supplied from the factory with metallic paint, automatic transmission, alloy wheels, heated front seats, electric front windows and even air conditioning. The service book also shows over 18 stamps and the accompanying history file shows many more receipts for maintenance and servicing work carried out during the vendor's ownership, many by main Mercedes-Benz dealerships. Today the car presents very well; the interior is well kept for a 31 year old 'utility' car, but perhaps this is indicative of the beginning of the luxury SUV market with little use as compared to a traditional utilitarian vehicle. The paint is also in good condition with only the odd blemish to be expected on a vehicle of this age. Owned by the vendor for the past 24 years, this is a very well-kept example, is in great condition throughout and is reported to run and drive very well, only now reluctantly offered for sale, due to the arrival of a new car. Supplied with the UK V5C registration document, MoT test certificate valid until 1st March 2024, an impressive history file, past MoT certificates, original Becker radio, jack, toolkit and first aid kit. To find such an original, good condition example of this 4x4 legend, let alone with such a comprehensive history file and so well optioned, is rare to say the least and an opportunity not to be missed.

Lot 137

2003 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG Transmission: automaticMileage:96600The fifth generation of the legendary SL series convertible sports cars was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof, a first for the SL class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. The flagship models were built by AMG in the form of the SL55 and SL65, both highly tuned versions of the SL500 and SL600 respectively. The SL55 was powered by a mighty supercharged version of the 5.5 litre, V8 which produced 493bhp and achieved 0-62 in 4.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph (governed). In theory, the SL55 could reach 190mph if the car was derestricted but, for many, the acceleration and top speed is impressive enough in its standard form! The Mercedes-Benz SL55 is no shrinking violet but the previous owner of this car was not satisfied and wanted to attract even more attention. A full wide bodykit was used to convert the SL55 AMG to a recreation of the later Brabus SL65 Black Edition with the help of a professional ADAIR kit. Subject to a light Category D insurance loss in 2013, ADAIR used this opportunity to facelift the headlights and expertly replace the panels with the wide body kit. The car today looks every part its £280,000 plus sibling, a real wolf in wolfs clothing and is described by our vendor as 'an absolute goliath of a car'. We are informed that the engine has been breathed on with the intention of achieving 600bhp, however until dyno tested this is still an unknown. The incredible sound from the exhaust is enough to make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end making this an exciting car to drive and own. We are informed only one genuine SL65 Brabus Black Edition car exists and is held in a collection owned by the Dubai Royal family. An AMG supercharged V8 with the roof down is a perfect motoring scenario and so desired by fans of the SL Mercedes-Benz. Offered with a MoT test certificate, this stunning SL will turn heads at every opportunity and will be sure to do the same when offered at auction. The vendor states this the most amazing vehicle he has ever driven, the power and sound make this vehicle truly a one-off beast.

Lot 148

1967 Mercedes-Benz 280 S Transmission: automaticMileage:28415Premiered at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1965, the initial model line-up of the W108 consisted of the 250S, 250SE, and 300SE, as well as a sole W109, the 300SEL. Engines for the new car were carried over from the previous generation, but enlarged and refined. The 250S was fitted with a 2496 cc straight-six M108 engine delivering 130bhp which accelerated the car to 62mph in 13 seconds and gave a top speed of 113mph but was superseded by a 2.8 litre M130, the ultimate variant of the mid-sized six, obtained by increasing the bore by 4.5mm. The result was the maximum practical enlargement of the engine. Approximately 130,000 of the 250 S/SE models were built during the first two years of the W108/109's existence. This very well-presented example of the 280S Mercedes-Benz saloon originally resided in Greece in the custody of a very successful Greek businessman and as such has benefitted from upgrades and the warmer dry climate; hence its condition today. As ascertained from the Mercedes-Benz dating certificate, the car was originally registered in Germany in 1967 and was imported to the UK in 2018 by DD Classics for a collector in Windsor, Berkshire where, apart from an owner change to a lady over the river in Eton, the car has remained since. Housed in an underground carpark, this car is described as rust free, and the paintwork appears unblemished. The interior trim is in wonderful order with the woodwork as new and upgraded leather trim even on the dashboard provides a very opulent feel. Boasting the 2.8 litre engine and optional LPG fuel system, should you wish to use it, coupled to air conditioning, this is a very good example of a collectable Mercedes-Benz and is offered with a V5C registration document.

Lot 186

1966 Mercedes-Benz 250 SE Coupé (W111) Transmission: automaticMileage:75000The 50s was the decade of the ponton but these were now feeling dated, Paul Bracq was subsequently drafted in to revamp the styling of the range and the change was immediate. The rear-end treatment was far more stylish and streamlined with the W111 coupés, as shown here, demonstrating a beautiful pillarless treatment once the windows were down. The body shell overall benefited from a lowered roof and waistline with an increased glass area creating a far 'airier' feel. Some cars have a timeless quality about them which can be seen at a glance. The 250SE coupe is one of them and as someone wiser than me once said, €œQuality is remembered long after the purchase price is forgotten €.  Originally registered in Australia It was then brought over in 2014 and sold to the current owner in the UK. Overall, the car presents in superb condition presented, as it is, in Milano Brown with new carpets and dash board. The engine and automatic gearbox have both been rebuilt with rebuilt brakes, discs and pads all-round. The shock absorbers are now new Bilsteins and the paintwork is in superb condition. In fact, the chrome work, wheel rims and glass are all in excellent condition throughout. Supplied with a light service and full 12 month MoT test certificate, the quality of this example is indisputable and if you're looking for what could only be described as a museum quality example then look no further.

Lot 188

Mercedes-Benz E320 Cabriolet Transmission: automaticMileage:89593The debut vehicle for this line was the 300 CE-24 Cabriolet, built until 1993 until it was succeeded by the E320 Cabriolet which became a classic in its own right. What is more, it had the potential to become a genuine piece of automotive history since its production period was relatively brief and numbers built were relatively low. The design stems from their four-door counterparts with modern features such as the eccentric sweep panoramic windscreen wiper, independent suspension and highly advanced safety systems. These were also disguised roll-over hoops in the event of an accident. If un-extended, they automatically deployed in 0.3 seconds if sensors detected an 'unusual angle of attack'. The convertible roof stowed away under a rear panel leaving nothing above the body to disturb the cabriolet form. This lovely example is presented in white with a cream leather interior with walnut insert to dash and has a black electrically operated hood. It comes with electric windows, stereo and electric ariel and it also has its book pack and spare wheel. This very retro and desirable cabriolet is offered in good condition and is now a very sought-after model, with most being offered with considerably higher mileage than this one which has only done 89,593 miles from new.

Lot 189

2004 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Transmission: automaticMileage:67322The Mercedes-Benz R129 models were produced from 1989 through to 2001 and were sold under the SL Class model names. The R129 replaced the R107 SL Class in 1989 and was subsequently replaced by the R230 in 2001. The R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 saloon and featured many innovative details for the time. The R129 came to public attention in 1991 when Diana, Princess of Wales, sold her Jaguar XJS to lease a J-registration, metallic red 500 SL, becoming the first member of the royal family to use a foreign car. This controversy sparked a media storm as it was questioned whether a member of British royalty should drive foreign cars. The fifth generation of the legendary SL series of two-door convertible sports cars made by Mercedes-Benz was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof; a first for the SL Class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997.Originally registered on 8th June 2004, this Mercedes-Benz has formed part of a private collection in recent times and as such, has been kept in a warm dry environment. We are advised by the vendor this car drives with no known faults and with the modest mileage of 67,322 the 4966cc engine is barely run in. Finished in silver with a black leather interior, this SL500 is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 16th February 2024. These are fabulous looking vehicles that offer 'wind in the hair' motoring as well as the comfort of a hardtop, such is the magnificent operation of the hood mechanism.

Lot 191

1992 Mercedes-Benz 300 SE (W126) Transmission: automaticMileage:63600'Over engineered' is a term often used with the cars that come out of the Stuttgart factory at Mercedes-Benz and the W126 is no exception. This represents the ultimate specification when a budget was not an option and this represents part of the S-Class range or Sonderklasse, 'special class', in English. Indeed, thought to be most luxurious and most expensive large saloon money could buy, possibly even the best car in the world at launch. Compared to its predecessor, the W126 was more aerodynamic, fuel efficient, capacious and more powerful with many new innovations including airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and traction control. The W126 had a twelve-year production run, the longest of any S-Class generation since the flagship models were first built in the mid-1950's.Presented in a distinct Barolo Red with contrasting lovely velour interior, this excellent example has clearly been cherished over the years and with just two former keepers recorded, this is understandable. The wheels have all been refurbished and look beautiful, set off as they are, with new tyres as well. Other comforts include a factory sunroof and new black Mercedes-Benz floor mats. We are informed that it drives without fault backed up, as it is, with a light service and a full one year MoT test certificate.Interested parties should note that a service was undertaken very recently although an MoT test was overlooked. The vendor has apologised for this and will finance one ‘post-auction’.

Lot 192

1991 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon GES 300 Transmission: automaticMileage:88500The Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon, short for Geländewagen (cross-country vehicle), is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. This very well presented metallic Beryll Blue which is actually Green in colour with grey cloth trim this GES G-Wagon was originally purchased from Mercedes-Benz Bournemouth on 18th October 1991. Supplied with metallic paint, automatic transmission, wide alloy wheels and an electric sunroof, the then owner exchanged his 280 GES for the more powerful model which cost £37,143 at the time and included over £5,000 of optional extras. Today the car presents excellently; the interior is especially well kept for a 32 year old 'utility' car but perhaps this is indicative of the beginning of the luxury SUV market with little use as a utilitarian vehicle and the only upgrade are the headlights which are now LED. The history file is comprehensive with original sales brochures, original order and details from the supplying dealer together with numerous invoices. Owned by our vendor since 2020 this is a very well-kept example in great condition throughout.

Lot 199

1961 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Transmission: manualMileage:88895The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL with the 300 SL made history at the New York International Motor Sports Show in February 1954 by being the first new production Mercedes-Benz to be unveiled outside of Germany. The impression given by the 190 SL alongside the bigger 300 SL was neat, sporty and with dashing lines. This was the trait of Mercedes-Benz designers Karl Wilfret and Walter Hacket. Despite opinions, the statistics tell their own tale as between May 1955 and February 1963, 25,881 of these cars were produced, it was a huge success for Mercedes-Benz. Its engine boasted four inline cylinders with a chain driven overhead camshaft and two Solex 44PHH carburettors, delivering a respectable 108bhp for that era. The body was a monocoque design, welded to the shortened chassis of the type 180 saloon. A racing version with aluminium doors and a small windscreen was never produced although these parts could be ordered from the factory for weekend racing. This lovely, UK supplied, right hand drive, matching numbers, 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was purchased by the current owner in 2013 and while in his ownership he has cosmetically restored it to the highest of standards. The cream leather interior with the dark blue carpets was replaced five years ago by classic Mercedes specialists Red Castle Classics in South Wales. The chromework has been restored and re-plated by S&T in October 2021 while the car had new sill panels and was repainted in the original colour of Light Blue (DB334) and new blue soft top fitted, all being completed in March 2022. Other work carried out has included replacing the starter motor, fitting a new brake servo unit and replacing the tyres with Michelin X tyres. This lovely Mercedes 190 SL is supplied with a V5C registration document and the original handbooks which contain the chassis cards confirming the matching numbers status. A right hand drive Mercedes-Benz 190 SL remains a highly sought-after classic car among collectors and enthusiasts. Its timeless design, quality craftsmanship, and performance capabilities continue to captivate admirers today.

Lot 203

2000 Mercedes-Benz SL500 SL Edition Transmission: automaticMileage:45100The 4973cc, R129 Mercedes-Benz SL500 carried on the tradition of the fast and reliable grand touring convertible from Mercedes-Benz. Born out of the earlier 500 SL models, the new SL500 featured many new and innovative ideas for the time such as controlled electronic damping, automatically expanding rollover bar and a more modern multi-link rear axle. An electrically operated hood, windows, door mirrors and seats made this model easy and comfortable to live with. With powerful engines, stopping power was aided by anti-locking braking as standard. During 1995, a mild facelift was carried out to the model range, which included revisions to the headlights, taillights and several new features adopted as standard including side air bags, automatic climate control and ESP. The SL Edition was available for the year 2000, as part of a limited run of cars to celebrate the end of production of the R129 generation. The SL Edition came with 18 € multi-piece alloy wheels, perforated leather seats, aluminium instrument and gear selector surrounds, vented brake discs and most importantly, a panoramic hardtop. This example has been owned by the present vendor since new and was specified in Mystic Blue with a black leather interior. The car has covered just over 45,000 miles in the past 23 years. The interior presents very well, with only minor wear on the seat bolsters. The paintwork is showing signs of some lacquer peel in places, mainly on the bonnet and boot areas. It is supplied to auction with a duplicate service book, showing service stamps from Klasse of Fulham, Mercedes-Benz specialists. The stamps are dated 12th September 2018 at 44,131 miles, 30th July 2019 at 44,497 miles and 6th April 2022 at 45,071 miles.Guide Price £12,000 - £16,000Interested parties should note that this vehicle comes with a panoramic hardtop which can be found inside the main building.

Lot 215

1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL California Transmission: automaticMileage:65513The stylish Mercedes-Benz W113 was presented at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show and replaced both the expensive 300 SL and entry-level 190 SL with one medium-priced two-seat sports car. The SL was a huge success, with 48,912 sold in nine years, and is now considered a true masterpiece. The body combines the elegantly trim look of contemporary Mercedes saloons with a simple grille derived from the 300 SL. Béla Barényi conceived the patented concave hardtop, soon called the 'Pagoda.' Like the best designs, the W113 has proven to be timeless in its appeal. We are pleased to offer this superb low mileage, three owner from new example which is an original and rare 'California Coupé', with the single bench seat as designated by option '417' on its factory record.Originally purchased in July 1969 by its first owner, a Mr. Luigi Bresciani an Italian ice cream manufacturer who ordered the Mercedes as a retirement present to himself. Interestingly Mr. Besciani ordered the Pagoda in UK right hand drive specification but had it delivered to his Italian residence. Later in 1972 he returned to England to join his family bringing the Pagoda with him. The Pagoda remained his pride and joy until 1982 when at the age of 80 he found his health failing and with great reluctance arranged for the car to be sold. At this stage, the car had covered some 51,000 miles. The car was then sold to its second owner, who at this time carried out various maintenance work to insure the car was ready for further use. The Mercedes was enjoyed for a further 8,000 miles and was taken around the country as well as on the continent. More recently 868 VC was purchased by our vendor at Historics auction for a figure of £113,200, elated by his purchase there were no thoughts to sell until he received the news that his driving licence was to be rescinded therefore he is forced to sell after a relatively short tenure.Offered with over four decades of single ownership, this superb example has covered a mere 65,513 miles and has had just three owners from new having been purchased recently for over £113,000. Accompanying the Pagoda is a sizeable history file with many documents, sundry bills, service records, MoT test certificates, and even the March 1983, edition of Classic and Sports which the car featured in!Having been dry stored since 1982, this Mercedes was last MoT'd in the early 2000's and has been used sparingly since but recently recommissioned by our vendor and running as it should. Presented in very good, preserved condition the paintwork retains a deep shine and shows little sign of age as does the interior and chrome work. Having covered little mileage from new and with a superb three owner history, this example represents a fantastic opportunity to acquire an ever-desirable right hand drive 280 SL Pagoda. We expect this wonderful example to be keenly contested at auction.

Lot 217

2010 Mercedes-Benz G55 Transmission: automaticMileage:12823The German word Geländewagen translates as 'cross country vehicle'. This abbreviates to G-Wagon and is a fitting name for the four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr in Austria and sold by Mercedes-Benz. The G-Wagon has enjoyed an impressive build run of over 40 years, during which time notable owners have included the Vatican who took delivery of a specially made G-Wagon which included a clear top and served as the Popemobile, a car that now has permanent residence in the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart. The condition of this G-Wagon is a testament to our vendors attention to detail, he is the cars second owner and during his 10 year tenure this impressive Mercedes has barely seen 1,000 miles a year use. The car presents spotlessly in gleaming black coachwork with a black leather interior. The stunning condition is complemented with a tremendous level of equipment which includes a factory fitted sunroof, rear screen entertainment, privacy glass, illuminated AMG treadplates, gold coloured brake calipers and sidesteps. The V8 Kompressor engine fired up with a reassuring growl through its side mounted exhaust pipes when requested and if you doubted the cars power it leaves very little to the imagination. These 4x4 from Mercedes-Benz have reached 'cult' status amongst enthusiasts and this genuine example is ready for a new owner.

Lot 227

2006 Mercedes-Benz SL55 Transmission: automaticMileage:68500The fifth generation of the legendary SL series convertible sports cars was known as the R230. In theory, the SL55 could reach 190mph if the car was derestricted but, for many, the acceleration and top speed is impressive enough in its standard form!Presented in Obsidian Black with a grey full leather trim, this SL55 was first registered 14th June 2006. Specified with the desirable panoramic glass roof, keyless go and comfort seats. The options alone were £4,695 taking this to a car that cost its first owner £102,925. Serviced initially by Mercedes-Benz main agents, however recently the car has been serviced by independents with the last undertaken by UK Technics in Maidenhead, Berkshire in June 2021. The car was purchased via video during Covid in June 2021, a copy of which can be found on our website describing the car. This privately owned SL55 also boasts an MoT test certificate valid until November 2023. A lovely example sitting on 19 € 18 spoke alloy wheels, this is a fantastic example that cost in excess of £100,000 when new and will still embarrass many supercar owners today with its performance.

Lot 230

1973 Mercedes-Benz 250 CE (W114) Transmission: automaticMileage:93000Whilst the saloon versions of this model were somewhat sedate, the coupé's, with no b-pillar to interrupt the lines, was rather an elegant sight to behold. This design element came, unsurprisingly, from the pen of Paul Bracq world famous for a number of different Mercedes-Benz models as well as BMW gullwings, France's TGV and another a number of other significant cars the put him well and truly on the map. With the advent of this W114, he lowered the roof line and the seats to maintain the headroom. The windows wound down completely out of sight and the 2.5 litre; fuel-injected engine propelled this model effortlessly up to a perfectly respectable 115mph.Painted some two years ago in this stunning Bordeaux red with contrasting new black MB-Tex trim, the overall presentation is superb. It also benefits from new head rests and front armrest, not something that was originally specified when built. Something also to note is that it has benefits from electric windows front and rear, again not something that was standard at the time. Also included is a new sub-frame with new Bilstein shock absorbers all round as well as new discs and pads front and back. Also included is new sound proofing under the bonnet, A fully re-cored radiator and a light service and fresh 12 months MoT test certificate. I am advised that she drives extremely well indeed and the quality of the restoration all points towards a sound and well-presented example.Interested parties should note that due to engine damage in one of the bores, a fresh engine has been installed although the original.

Lot 247

1999 Mercedes-Benz S500 Long Wheelbase Transmission: automaticMileage:42000The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a luxury saloon and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116 S-Class which succeeded previous Mercedes-Benz models dating back to the mid-1950s. As the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz line-up, the S-Class has debuted many of the company's latest innovations including drivetrain technologies, interior features and safety systems. The W220 S-Class was completely restyled in 1999 with a body that was slightly smaller and lighter than its predecessor. Production of the W220 S-Class totalled 485,000 units; slightly more than the production totals of its predecessor. As with each new S-Class, the W220 brought in new innovations such as Airmatic air suspension and Active Ventilated Seats which used miniature fans in the seats to move air through perforations.Originally registered in 1999, this S500 Long Wheelbase has only covered 42,000 miles. Presented in Alabaster White paintwork with a Nappa leather interior. The specification of an S500 is comprehensive and this car benefits from a whole host of options including electric memory seats (front and rear), command system with navigation and cruise control to name but a few. Owned by our vendor since 2015, this example is supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until January 2024. This car offers astonishing value for money given the cost when new and the mileage.Guide Price £5,000- £7,000

Lot 256

1998 Mercedes-Benz CL600 Transmission: automaticMileage:85200The CL-Class is the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz car range. It continued to follow the same development cycle as the S-Class though riding on a shorter wheelbase and offered with only the higher-output powertrains. It was the first Mercedes to feature Active Body Control, Bi-Xenon headlights and, on the early V12 models it employed Active Cylinder Control. This shut down one bank of cylinders under light engine loads enabling it to achieve better fuel economy than the V8 CL500. Not bad for a car with a six litre V12 developing 367bhp and yielding a Soyuz-launching 0-60mph time of 5.9 seconds. It is as a Grand Tourer that this model is primarily designed for though. With more rear seat space than many executive saloons, a huge boot and a truly cosseting driving environment, the CL is one of the most soothing cars you could hope to take on a long trip. The performance is remarkable and the turbine-smooth V12 is, frankly, epic.Originally registered on 25th October 1998, this Mercedes-Benz is in very good condition and is finished in dark blue coachwork over a two tone grey interior. The V12 engine burst into life when requested and ran exceedingly quietly and smoothly. The automatic gearbox offers seamless gear changes resulting in this being a car of supreme comfort to drive and excellent performance. This is possibly the nicest example we have seen. The paintwork retains a deep shine and the interior is excellent. The wheels are also in good order bar the odd blemish commensurate with the cars age. Supplied with its original Mercedes book pack with service book including a comprehensive Mercedes main dealer and Mercedes specialist service record with 13 stamps to show. Various old MoT records are also present as well as many sundry bills including a recent invoice of circa £1,000 for a new radiator, a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 10th January 2024, this Mercedes-Benz CL600 is superb and is offered for sale without reserve and also comes complete with its private registration number 'P88 CAN'. This could well prove to be a shrewd purchase.

Lot 234

1988 Mercedes-Benz 280 GE G-Wagon Transmission: automaticMileage:90991The Mercedes-Benz G-Class or G-Wagon, short for Geländewagen, (cross-country vehicle), is characterised by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature. The G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced Mercedes-Benz in Daimler's history with a span of 32 years. The G-class was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran and offered as a civilian version in 1979. The first major refinements were introduced in 1981, including an automatic transmission, air conditioning, an auxiliary fuel tank, protective headlamp grilles and a cable winch. Fuel injection became available in 1982 when the 230 GE was introduced in Turin, along with more comfortable and supportive front seats, auxiliary heating, wider tyres, and fender flares. For 1985, differential locks, central door locking, and a tachometer become standard. This very original example is presented in metallic grey with cloth 'Recaro' interior and comes with automatic transmission, front grille mounted fog lights and a fitted tow bar. It had a 'short' engine replacement at 36,562 miles which is documented in the history file and the odometer is currently showing a mere 91,000 miles which is very low for a vehicle of its age. This iconic 4x4 was last used on the road in 2008 and has been dried stored ever since. This 280 GE has recently had light recommissioning which entailed new brakes, battery, alternator, fuel pump, new shock absorbers, the fuel tank refurbished and four new Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tyres. The interior is in nice condition with the added benefit of having the extra rear seats, therefore offering the nine-seat option which is extremely useful and electric windows to the front and rear. This Mercedes-Benz 280 GE is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2024, its original booklets, manuals, full set of overmats and a copy of its original data sheet. These 4x4 Mercedes-Benz have reached 'cult' status amongst enthusiasts.

This was the first GMT Master reference to feature protective crown guards as well as the smaller triangular tip on the second hour hand.To upgrade the appearance of the dial; several gold versions of the Submariner and GMT Master were fitted with gold chaton markers in which the luminescent was placed, instead of the regular directly applied luminescent dots and batons as found on the steel versions. The use of applied chatons to the dial has created the affectionate nickname 'nipple dial' amongst Rolex enthusiasts. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
